Chance Me

Post by zaktooker » Mon Jul 17, 2017 10:25 am

All,

I'll save you the time and get right to it..

CC GPA 2.8
University GPA 3.9
LSAT 171

Chance me for T14 schools.
Preference - Columbia but would like input on the other T14 schools as well.

Thanks!

What's your LSAC-calculated GPA?

You need to calculate your LSAC GPA before getting chanced. And to answer the likely implicit question by breaking it down like this, having a high GPA at a University will not overcome having the low GPA at a CC. The final number will be all that matter.

All,

LSAC calculated GPA is 3.35 which consists of the two GPAs I listed above.

Not sure why but my CC transcript says 3.65 GPA (cum laude honors on associate's degree).

Ok, well you need to nail down what your CC GPA is first then so you can accurately get what your LSDAS GPA will be. But assuming it's a 3.35, you're not likely to get Columbia without a higher LSAT, but you should be in play for some lower T13, maybe with a small tuition discount.

Thanks for the input.

A little background real quick - I'm from NJ and would love to practice law in NY. Cornell? NYU? How is there BigLaw job placement?

Their BL prospects are nearly identical to Columbia's BL prospects.

and you also don't need to focus on NY schools, any of the T13 schools can get you to NY.
