Re: 171 LSAT with 3 official tests (154, 159, 171)
That is indeed a big jump worth explaining if you have a legitimate reason. Most schools will give you an opportunity to attach an extra addendum for situations like yours.

that's a crazy jump haha congrats!
and nahh you should write a quick addendum but a 171 is a 171 and schools will jump at the chance to nab that into their incoming class

Do you think this will hurt my chances of receiving a scholarship at certain schools, like Penn, where a 171 is above their 75th percentile?
Thanks, y'all
Congratulations on the huge increase!

Thank you! There is hope for those of us scoring in the 150's.

Re: 171 LSAT with 3 official tests (154, 159, 171)
I had a very similar increase, and attached an addendum to all my apps explaining why I did poorly on my first two (155, 159). Waitlisted at very t14 I applied too. Albeit I applied in January, cause my third lsat was in December.
In my opinion, the addendum is not necessary. No one is going to see that jump as luck or a sign of inconsistency. You progressively reached your potential. I think mentioning a tendency to have test anxiety (or any personal issue) may not be well received.
If the issue related to family or something similar, an addendum is probably warranted.
This is just my experience, so take it with a grain of salt.

Re: 171 LSAT with 3 official tests (154, 159, 171)
Big congrats on the bump. Good on you for sticking it out.
I doubt any schools will care about the multiple scores (despite what they will otherwise claim), but an addendum won't hurt you as long as you have a convincing reason for the disparity.
If your reason is that you just studied more rigorously, which is what schools will assume, I'd forgo the addendum.

I don't see any reason to write an addendum honestly. Schools will only care about the 171. I would ask spivey to make sure, but I actually think an addendum could be a bad idea

Threads like this should be auto-posted for any thread where someone says "I can't retake".
Congrats, OP. Job well done.

They won't be weighed as much. They won't likely be weighed at all by anyone. Only the high score goes to ABA and USNWR. But since the disparity is so extreme you will be required by most schools to write a brief addendum. Just part of the process. Don 't overwrite.askingforhelp wrote:How can I show that the other 2 tests (154 and 159) should not be weighed as much as my 171?
