I am looking specifically at Buffalo and Albany. My GPA sits at 2.84 and has trended upward the past few semesters, it will go up a little more after this semester but I plan to have my applications sent by then. What do I need to pull on the LSAT to get in to Buffalo and Albany?
I have no real reason to explain my GPA on my application other than me lacking motivation to do well, something that has changed, but still no real reason.
What LSAT score do I need with a 2.8 GPA? Forum

Law School Transparency reports for both schools: https://www.lstreports.com/schools/albany/ https://www.lstreports.com/schools/buffalo/carey34 wrote:I am looking specifically at Buffalo and Albany. If you're that far below a school's median GPA, which you are for pretty much every school, the rule of thumb is you need to be above their 75th percentile LSAT for a shot at admission. For a shot at any scholarship money, you would need to be far above that point.
So for Albany, you would probably need a 155 or higher for a shot to get in, and a 160 or higher for a decent scholarship. For Buffalo, you would probably need a 160 or so for admission, and around a 165 or higher to get money. I would recommend aiming for the latter figure for each of these schools, because even if you get in, paying off $200,000 in debt is no fun, and that's assuming you have a job, which you might not in three to four years if President Trump starts a trade war with China and Mexico and crashes the economy again.
Bottom line: if you want to go to law school, hit those LSAT books.

I'm echoing what DM said. I am in a similar boat GPA wise (my max LSAC gpa is a 2.9-3.0 due to making some bad decisions in my first attempts at college). I set my target/won't retake LSAT score at just above the 75th for the schools that I'd like to attend. So, in my case, that means writing no lower than 160 to have a reasonable shot at getting in.
I pulled the graphs from Law School Numbers. You can see what other people who applied got based off of their numbers.

Score as high as you are able to. You're approaching this the wrong way.
Also these schools leave most grads in very precarious situations. Do your research and be warned.
You should scope out options other than law school.
