FECK IT, WE'LL DO IT LIVE!!!!!!!!

Post by politics » Wed Jan 06, 2010 6:40 pm

I am not fond of my December LSAT so I am only applying to a few schools and more than likely am holding off LS for a year.

My chances at (3.45/160)

Washington and Lee (parent is a LS alum)
Wake Forest
WVU
George Mason
Catholic
William and Mary
George Washington PT
Pepperdine
Villanova

I scored a 161 on my LSAT and came out of school with a 3.01, although it was at a service academy.

So far, I've received acceptance to George Mason. You should be fine - do you have any work experience or are you straight out of undergrad?

Good luck.

It's really tough to say -- how are your letters of recommendation? Are they people that know you well? Do your personal statements discuss what you feel you will add to the classroom (diversity, interesting legal experience, etc). I know George Mason as well as lawyers that I spoke to in the DC area said my military service/work experience was impressive as well as my performance in my major at a service academy (Systems Engineering). I'm a bit of an unorthodox applicant for law schools though as I'll be receiving my scholarship through the US Army's JAG Corps.

However, don't let that discourage you. I became very discouraged when I met an individual that said they scored over a 170 on their LSAT, and was accepted at Harvard only to decide to pursue a business degree because "being a lawyer isn't **** compared to a businesswoman."

Take it for what it's worth  Apply away and good luck!

Gratzi for the response. Anyone care to predict?

I'd say you'll likely be good to go for W&L, WF, WVU, GMU, Pepperdine, Catholic, Villanova, and GWU.

The only one I'm unsure of is William & Mary because of it's undergraduate reputation.

Washington and Lee (parent is a LS alum)-WL-could go either way
Wake Forest-WL-again could go either way, I'd think out
WVU-In
George Mason-Out
Catholic-In
William and Mary-WL/Out (they seem to waitlist everyone)
George Washington PT-Out
Pepperdine-Could go either way, but I'd think in
Villanova-Don't know enough to say
I think the person who came out of West Point/USNA/AFA is being a bit too optimistic. They are going to do pretty well relative to their numbers, especially since they presumably let law schools know that they are going through the funded JAG route as a current officer. I'm sure law schools like such candidates so they can advertise how they have put people in JAG, have members of their class with a guaranteed job post-grad, etc.

A big question is if you have applied or not yet? Its starting to get pretty late in the game. If you have everything ready to go and apply in the next 10 days or so (or have recently), you aren't going to be super late, butprevailing wisdom says it really starts to hurt if your not complete by mid-january. If true I think that is going to affect your chances a lot at Wake Forest, Villanova, Pepperdine, and Washington and Lee. Also Unless they have given lots of $, I don't think legacy matters too much, though it varies by school. Since you are kind of borderline though, I think it could definetely put you over the edge.

Very little chance at GW with those numbers, even PT. Sorry.

Weren't you the guy that posted a thread a while back cursing about your 168 PT? If you honestly feel that way then why on earth would you apply to law school with a 160?

Yes, I messed up on the December test. I am more than likely retaking in June but I wanted to send some apps out.

I applied last year with a 3.82 and a 160. This was how my cycle turned out..

William and Mary - WL -> OUT
Washington and Lee - WL -> IN
George Mason - IN (w/$)
Wake Forest - WL-> IN
Villanova - IN

I'm non-urm, non-NC resident. Hope this helps.
