3.9/168 - T14?

Post by itsirtou » Tue Jan 05, 2010 10:30 pm

3.92 GPA and 168 GPA. I know I'm applying really late in the cycle - I screwed up my first LSAT so I took it again in December. Think I got a shot at a T14? My heart is really tied to Berkeley because it's about a half an hour from where my mom lives ( lol I know, I'm a momma's girl) but any T14 would be fantastic.

Thanks!

I think you should have a pretty good shot at Berkeley. If you don't get a T14 this cycle, I would reapply next cycle really early and maybe ed somewhere.

You're in luck -- Berkley loves them some high GPAs. It's not a sure thing, but I'd say you have a really good chance!

Berkeley does love high GPAs, but they love early applications even more. It's very close to too late, so I'd say take the year off and apply next year...

Berkeley loves two things: high GPAs and early apps. You have the former, but not the latter. You still have a shot, but not a good one. You would be guaranteed if you waited until next cycle and submitted your application in September. Otherwise, for the rest of the T14, out at HYS, WL/out at Columbia and Chicago, WL/in at NYU, in everywhere else except maybe a random unpredictable rejection or two somewhere from places that are looking for high LSATs this late (UVA is most likely to reject).

My recommendation: Wait and apply really early at Berkeley in September for 2011. You will get in then, no questions asked.

too bad Berkeley doesn't have ED

With that GPA you could get into UVA ED by waiting and applying early next cycle.

Hmm. It sounds like I kind of have to decide between getting into a good (maybe T14) school this year, or having a really good shot at getting into Berkeley (my dream school) but a year from now.

Whew.

if you wait a year, you could retake, break 170, and have a real shot at stanford.

This too. Every point above 170 would increase your chances of getting into the Top 6.
