URM- out of luck? T14 possible? Too late in the cycle?
Black Male URM
3.45 GPA from Cornell
Master's degree at another Ivy
155 September LSAT (Took it again in December and waiting for my new score but I think I scored around 160-161)
Applied to all T14s plus some T30s and I've been accepted to a T20.
I submitted all of my applications with my September 155 LSAT and told all the schools to hold off on my applications until my December score arrives. I did this in hopes of cutting down on processing times at LSAC and at all the schools. Almost every school has responded and told me that my app is in the queue and will be looked at by the Admissions Committee in the first week in January when my LSAT score arrives. Is this too late in the process? Am I totally screwed out of a T14? Still have a shot at Cornell?

I am actually in a similar situation. 3.4 AA male senior from Yale. 158 December LSAT. I wanted to apply to some T-14's this cycle, but not sure where I would be competitive. Any advise is greatly appreciated!groundkontrol wrote:Black Male URM

I think you'll get into a couple lower T14s but it'll be completely random. URM cycles are hard to predict, and a lot of it has to do with how many other URMs that school has already gotten and how their numbers are holding up otherwise compared to the prior year. Schools will probably hold onto your apps a while to see if they can fit you in without messing up their overall numbers, and then the ones that can will offer you admission later in the spring.
Good luck! I hope you enjoy the schools you get into.

Thanks! What counts as "lower T14"?vanwinkle wrote:I think you'll get into a couple lower T14s but it'll be completely random. Penn and everything below it, IMO. Like I said, probably a couple of these, but can't predict which, depends on what other commitments they're getting this year.timexkid12 wrote:Thanks! What counts as "lower T14"?

Just want to say thanks for helping me keep things in perspective as far as being a URM.
I have had a somewhat bumpy cycle (1 Reject, 5 WL/Def, 1 Accept) as is to be expected as a prototypical splitter. Thank you for reminding me that a wait-list does not equal a rejection, and that (hopefully) by spring some of these Top-20 wait lists will bloom into acceptances.

UPDATED STATS:
Black Male URM
3.45 GPA from Cornell
Master's degree at another Ivy
155 September LSAT
159 December LSAT
Applied to all T14s plus some T30s and I've been accepted to a T20.
Hoping for some T14 acceptance. Is Cornell (my undergrad) unlikely?
