ASW general question

Post by Dr. Nefario » Wed Dec 10, 2014 2:49 pm

Is it normal to attend more than one ASW or should you only attend the one for the school you plan on attending? I've gotten a few travel stipends that can only be used for ASWs and that is why I ask, as I may not be able to afford visiting otherwise.

If you haven't made your decision yet, the whole point of ASWs is to help you do so. So yeah, feel free to use as many of those travel stipends as you want.

I was offered one today to visit a school about 1700 miles away. Doing the math it wouldn't cover the gas. :(

Yeah, you can fly cheaper than gas as long as you live in a major hub.

Hehe, sure, but wouldn't cover the plane either. It would be cheaper but two of the schools I'm accepted to already are only 140-160 miles apart, so I was hoping to make it to both of them. HMM, maybe I can see if the other school offers any travel reimbursements.

Oh yeah, check if your school does this. A different school offers an additional 'scholarship' to those that visit the campus and sit/talk with the dean. Sort of a delayed reimbursement, but it's another 1k off during the 1L year.

Go to as many as you want. The stipends can cover a lot, I think I paid only maybe $200 out of pocket.
