I am planning on going to an ASD on the other side of the country. How does one go about asking about traveling stipends without just straight up saying "yo, you've accepted me and i'm thinking about going to visit, but where's the cash money at homie?"
Obviously, you would call them up and ask if they provide stipends...but what is a good/polite way to bring this up and ask? And is there a specific person you'd ask?

Call admissions. "Hi, do you provide a travel stipend to attend ASW? Yes, great. And, how do I start this process?"

Call it (TT)Travel reimbursements and call the school; it's a pretty normal practice. If they don't do it, asking in person isn't going to help you.

I think what Davidbentley meant to convey is that there isn't necessarily a correct approach in asking for a travel stipend. Either schools provide them for qualified candidates or they don't.
