I kind of cheated in that I knew people going in, but it's pretty easy to meet people at ASDs.

I went not knowing anyone, and found it easy to meet people. Take comfort in knowing that pretty much everyone else is a little nervous too. You will be meeting folks all weekend. After the first couple if will feel normal to just walk up to people and introduce yourself.

As far as my experience at ASW... I thought it was a lot of fun! Pretty much everyone I talked to loved it. The student panel was a highlight, as well as the craziness of the auction.

Can someone really answer the question about dress? Didn't wear a suit to my first ASW but based on everyone else's clothes I was overdressed

The 3/15 weekend was casual but not like sweats flip-flops casual. Business casual would be on the dressy side. Bring a blazer if there's a firm reception along with some slacks/dress shoes.

I emailed and they said "Most people will be either casual or business casual - whatever you will feel comfortable in considering faculty and deans will be around to answer questions. "

I went to one of the weekends and I dressed casual. A lot of people dressed up but there was a significant amount of people who dressed casual. I sometimes use how I dress to get a feel for others at the schools. I think if they flip about your dress, especially since all you're doing is getting information for yourself and trying to enjoy the weekend, then it speaks more about them than you, if you know what I mean.
