I don't believe they even open files until mid November. Earliest acceptances (that look legit) on LSN are December.grrlater wrote:checking in. so no one has heard back from them yet, right? Can we expect anything in November or should we expect to wait until December/January?

^^ This is what they said on the USC status checker as well, that they review in november and that they won't release decisions until december.

Firmly checking in!
However, having a full from WUSTL, I'd consider attending only if they show a full a well basically.
I'd rather be in California than Missouri, but not if that costs me more money to attend a school with lower employment numbers, and with a strong regional bias... However, as every t20 Californian school, it has some real appeal to me! (I lived nearby for some months and I loved it!)

Idk why but this strongly reminded me of Lucille Bluth.InterLaw wrote:Firmly checking in!

Yes, but I'm not a candidate for it at all, so you don't need to worry too much.OakBrook2021 wrote:Anyone else applying for the Rothman?

Haha I mean I don't really expect to get it anyways. Just hoping to be a finalist so I can get that free LA trip and get a good feel for whether I'd want to go to USC on a full (non-Rothman). Would definitely not turn down the Rothaman because of the guaranteed 1L Skadden SA (pretty much guaranteed BigLaw)!rowdy wrote: Yes, but I'm not a candidate for it at all, so you don't need to worry too much.

For sure. I felt like I was a softs candidate but not a numbers candidate so I applied. The worst they can say is no.OakBrook2021 wrote:Haha I mean I don't really expect to get it anyways. The 1L SA is almost better than the scholarship!

Re: USC Gould Applicants 2017-2018 (C/O 2021)
For me personally, I would say better since going to USC comes with more of a risk than T14. The difference between 90k in loans and ~160-180k seems alot less appealing if BigLaw isn't attainable at median. Also Skadden is supposed to be top notch in the practice groups that interest me so I'd be more than happy ending up there if OCI is less than stellar!rowdy wrote: The 1L SA is almost better than the scholarship!

Sooooo... Here's the deal with USC job placement.OakBrook2021 wrote:For me personally, I would say better since going to USC comes with more of a risk than T14. 1) They only rank the top 10 students.
2) It is absolutely an LA feeder for Big Law. You can look at their employment stats. A vast majority of their students go to big law. (If I remember correctly. I looked at this months ago and all the schools blur together eek)
3) They do OCI's before you start 2L and more than half (I forgot the number) of their 2L's get SA's through that.

Yeah I wouldn't call 40% the vast majority. I'm sure there are some with the grades for BigLaw that do other things, but If I had to guess it'd be like top 30-33% where you can feel somewhat confident about getting a 2L SA through OCI

Submitted to USC. I'm originally from SoCal so this would be a great school to consider, esp if they throw some $$!
