I feel like my parents, mentors, and everyone else has a top 4 list that they constantly feel the urge to tell me about.

also ~ checking in! haven't submitted my app yet
Your Mom sounds incredibly sweet - don't forget to call her today! I'm justifying my lack of submission on the fact that one of my recommenders still hasn't written...gayfish wrote:+100 first in my family to go to grad school, and everyone is hella pumped at every acceptance. oh no what happened??feralflamingo wrote:Went complete a couple days ago, found out two app breaking (according to Asha's blog) mistakes today
Whatever. I don't care. *crying in corner*
Can you quickly get another professor LOR and submit? Not sure how that process goes but I imagine it's posisble! Also if you've been out of school for a while i think it's okayferalflamingo wrote:one employer LOR and one professor LOR. It may not seem like a big deal but I just found out Asha really stresses two prof LORs. Also made a grammatical error I did not know was an error (lived in China for most my life, international schooling & some years stateside for eng). Yale was honestly a whim and I don't expect to get in, but knowing that I basically broke my application is super disheartening.gotmilk332 wrote:oh no what happened??feralflamingo wrote:Went complete a couple days ago, found out two app breaking (according to Asha's blog) mistakes today

+1 to adding an LOR! I'm sure a typo won't be a deal breaker, either. Even Yale adcomms make them too.... That's in the Ask Asha blog as well!gotmilk332 wrote:Can you quickly get another professor LOR and submit? Not sure how that process goes but I imagine it's posisble! Also, since you're an international, I wouldn't sweat a minor grammatical mistake - I mean, honestly, how many adcoms/applicants do you think speak/write 2+ languages fluently? You're already impressive!Oneanddone? wrote:+1 to adding an LOR! I'm sure a typo won't be a deal breaker, either. Even Yale adcomms make them too.... Yo my math professor said the same thing a few years ago. Thankfully she finished my letter a long time ago, but I deffo feel you about hearing omens of "boredness" because of knowing stuff like elementary topology and lebesgue integrationtinycatfriend wrote:My family still thinks I should get a PhD. My Yale app has been delayed because my professor writing my recommendation keeps trying to convince me to get a JD/PhD... she's convinced I'll be bored with a JD because I know math.
Her dad is a Nobel Prize winner and so is her husband, so I think she has a slightly skewed idea of normal.
