There's no clear place for it on the app, except an "Addendum" section which I understand to be more for explanations of GPA dips, time off, etc., rather than an essay on diversity. I know Asha has said they accept diversity statements, but her posts are years old, so maybe the app has changed to discourage them? Any thoughts?
I uploaded mine to the addendum section.

Anyone know if there's any point to submitting the optional resume as a K-JD, considering the activities section, and how it says it should be separate from the resume? All of my extracurriculars and work/internships would go there, so what's the point of the resume?

LSAC GPA: 3.56
LSAT take one 163: [sat for it cold, no prep. so essentially a "diagnostic" only not ... because it was the actual LSAT]
LSAT take two 178: [almost cancelled]
URM: AfAm Female
softs: somewhere between nonexistent and unimpressive

I found settling on a topic to be more than half the battle, so that's great. Good luck!

Well done! On this topic, how are people approaching this essay? From what I've seen online, past applicants have done almost like mini PSs. I went a totally different route. What are you all thinking?

I went a different route, talked about my love of Greek Tragedies and how they are still key pieces of literature in modern society to explore social issues

Mine is an academic-ish piece of writing to balance a personal PS. That said, I’m not sure one has to be academic/personal so long as both are good (my 250 is not good yet, which is why I’ve been sitting on it for months)

Cool. I went academic-ish also, also about art that I love

Applied! 180, 3.79 from HYPS undergrad, feeling pretty good about my writing but who knows.

Also, for anybody with an LSAC fee waiver, Yale seems to suggest on its website that they don't honor them, but they honored mine. Nice surprise this morning.

IDK if I should apply...K-JD, weak softs, my chances are insanely low and money is tight right now.

I don't think your chances are "insanely low". K-JD might hurt a little, but you probably have a 50/50 shot which is well worth the money.
so since we have the exact same stats but you have WE, you're giving yourself a greater than 50% chance of being admitted? :D

In all seriousness though, I think my chances are probably like 1 in 5. Although I do check a pretty unique diversity box so that might give me a leg up. Plan A is to ask parents for the money, Plan B is eat exclusively ramen noodles until thanksgiving.

this thread has been oddly dead this cycle... I heard Asha is out, do we think this means no December admits? More early admits? No changes at all?

Shit, I hope this doesn't change anything regarding application timelines. I haven't submitted yet...
same here, never even considered applying as i really don't think i have a shot but i've been looking at their website all day and now i think i will. hopefully being a little late to the party (comparatively) doesn't hurt us

Conventional wisdom is that applying later doesn't hurt you for Yale.
Ask Asha wrote:Basically, at Yale, the entire permanent faculty -- over 60 people -- serve as the "Admissions Committee." It works like this. First, I review each file. Files are read in the order they become complete -- in other words, we do not sort by grades or LSATs. At this stage, I am looking for whether you can 1) perform extremely well academically at Yale and 2) make a significant contribution to the composition of the incoming class, in terms of (among other things) experience, perspective, leadership, special skills, and future goals.

We are very fortunate to have many more people who fit the above criteria than we have room for in the incoming class. To this end, I send about 25% of our applicant pool -- close to 1,000 files -- to our faculty "Committees." At this stage, each application is sent, in a stack of about 50 files, to three faculty readers. Each faculty member uses his or her own criteria to rate each file on a scale of 2-4, with 4 being the highest. Each faculty member reads independently -- that is, the faculty member does not know who the other two readers of the file will be and so there is no discussion of the files with other people --and his or her scores are kept confidential from the other readers.

Once the application is circulated through the three readers, we add up the scores in the Admissions Office. All applicants who receive a 12 (straight 4s) and most who receive an 11 (two 4s and a 3) are admitted.
In other words, you pass an initial gut-check by an admissions professional, then you get reviews by the faculty readers, and then the people with the best reviews get admitted in April. At other schools, applying later means aiming at a shrinking target, but everyone gets roughly the same shot with Yale's system.

right, but for the past few years (at least), there's been a wave of admits pre-Christmas...
