YLS Snuggies are the reason they are ranked #1. I am convinced.

From your lips to God’s ears (and by God, I obviously mean the Yale faculty reviewing our apps) :P

Anyone also struggling with Yale 250? At this point I'm just about ready to write about peanuts.

Yes, I've written about 10-15 drafts on several different topics, and I'm not happy about any. I'm seriously considering saving myself the $120 and just not applying...

bubblebat wrote:I was enrolled in a masters program but something absolutely atrocious has happened (well outside my control) and now I have to withdraw. I've been told my reasons for leaving are more than respectable and my supervisors said they'd be willing to write me a glowing letter to accompany the news, but I still feel like the second I inform Yale, I'll have shot my chances square in the face.
I would not worry too much about it, honestly. There is not much you can do (guessing that deciding not to disclose is a bad/unethical idea). And the professors at Yale are professors! They've seen a lot of things over the years.

It will help that you can explain that you were forced to withdraw for reasons well outside your control. And a letter from your supervisors backing you up and saying, hey don't knock the applicant for this they're great, should go a long way I'd imagine—for the same reasons that academic letters of rec are preferred (because Yale faculty judges files and faculty respects faculty). I really don't know that it will hurt your chances at all.

It might be worth emailing the admissions office to see how they would like that handled. Is there a process to amend a submitted application in case of a significant change? Or just handled by email?

I had so much trouble with this even with great ideas for it. I eventually downed half a bottle of wine and just kept starting different essays until one stuck. Don't force yourself into a topic would be my advice. Just write whatever comes naturally.

My understanding is that those invites are sent to URMs within a certain score band? (LSAT and/or gpa?)

This was honestly pretty reassuring to read, even if nobody really knows how this is going to pan out. I appreciate the warm words!

Does anyone know how I might go about sending Yale this extra letter? I think I remember there being some form for sending letters outside the CAS but I can't find it now (please excuse me if I'm just looking poorly!).

Has anyone sent updated application materials to Yale? I have new employment and a few other things so I've been sending updated resumes.. for Yale should i send a new college activities list instead of an updated resume since that was their application format (I'm current undergrad)??

There's hope!! Gonna PM you then ;)

...and because I'm paranoid, do we double-space the activities list or keep it as however it shows on our resume?
