Do you all think the Roy Moore fiasco will affect applications?

Status checker updated to "Pending Final Committee Decision." Past threads seem pretty split on whether this means rejection or waitlist. Any others in the same boat or know more about what this means?

Just got a voicemail from the Dean asking me to call them back and that they have "good news." Waiting to get out of work to call, but fingers crossed!

Went UR 10/16 so anyone who doesn't hear back quickly like many seem to, there's hope!

New poll time! Now that Thanksgiving is past, let's hope these admissions decisions speed up.

I'm not sure, but I'm in that boat now. Did you get a decision yet? It looks like Alabama is waitlisting splitters this year -- I see as many waitlists among this year's applicants in the 2.5-2.99/165+ grouping as in the past four years combined.FN-2187 wrote:Status checker updated to "Pending Final Committee Decision." They could also be YPing people with LSATs above their 75th. I imagine with the increase in applications this year they might want to see what numbers they need to pull up (GPA or LSAT).wmbuff wrote:I'm not sure, but I'm in that boat now. Just got an acceptance call - I'm in with 28k/year. I mostly applied for scholarship negotiating purposes, although it seems like a great school. Not sure I could get past the political climate there though. Stats are 166/3.37. I also have a load of old C&F issues, which I obviously disclosed. This acceptance is an affirmation for me that my messy past won't necessarily bar me from law school.

We have virtually the exact same stats. Mine are 166/3.38, but my LSAC GPA is 3.36. If you don't mind my asking, where else are you applying? I'm in at UGA, Ohio State, Georgia State, and Alabama so far. Waiting to hear back from Emory, Notre Dame, and Vanderbilt. Also applied to Berkeley just for fun.

Re: University of Alabama c/o 2021 Applicants (2017-18 cycle)
Well, I'm from Boston and am mostly interested in staying in Boston, or moving to the west coast. I applied to USC, BC, BU, North Eastern, Emory, Arizona state, CU Boulder, WUSTL, Emory, Notre Dame, Vanderbilt...a few others. I've only heard back from Alabama and North Eastern thus far. My targets are BU or BC but this cycle is tough and I don't have my hopes up.seanbodonovan wrote:dasseeker wrote:Just got an acceptance call - I'm in with 28k/year. Re: University of Alabama c/o 2021 Applicants (2017-18 cycle)
Gotcha. Yeah, I'm from Georgia, and I don't really intend to leave. I already have UGA pretty much for free, so that's what I'm probably going to do unless I get a better than expected offer from Emory. I know this cycle is looking more competitive, but BC should be no problem for you. I'd bet on BU too. You're above the LSAT 75ths for both and not significantly below the 25th for GPA. Actually above it for BC. Good luck!dasseeker wrote:Well, I'm from Boston and am mostly interested in staying in Boston, or moving to the west coast. New poll, addressing the change in Alabama's admissions strategy.

From what I've seen, it appears that a lot of the t-25 are being more YP trigger happy. I think a lot of schools are focusing on high GPAs first and then will see who's still interested later on.wmbuff wrote:New poll, addressing the change in Alabama's admissions strategy.

Thanks. They'll have to make a decision one way or another on my application, first.principalagent wrote:Recently withdrew and threw a chunk of money back into the pot. Good luck!

I know at least one person who will also withdraw her full ride/stipend. So another 80K to go back into the pot for fall 2018.
