Boston University C/O 2021 Applicants (2017-2018)
Hello all,
I'm surprised nobody has yet opened a BU thread - last year's thread started in August!
Many thanks to Ashrice, I pretty much pilfered last year's thread.
Applications opened September 1!
Regular decision apps need to be submitted by April 1. See below for early/binding decision dates
Stats for Regular Decision (class of 2020)
LSAT: 161, 165 (+1), 166 (+1)
GPA: 3.50 (-0.02), 3.73(+0.05), 3.81(+0.04)
Class size: 236 (-21)

BU now offers 2 different Binding Decision Options
Distinguished Scholar Program (from the BU site):
Applicants who are granted admission through this program will be named Distinguished Scholars and will be granted a three-year, full tuition scholarship. The admission process through the Distinguished Scholar Binding Early Decision Program is highly competitive.
In order to be considered for the Distinguished Scholar Binding Early Decision Program you must have a reportable Law School Admission Test (LSAT) score. The September/October 2017 administration is the last acceptable test date for candidates seeking admission through this program for the 20178 entering class.
Deadlines:
•Application Due by: November 14, 2017
•Application Complete by : November 17, 2017
•Notification by: December 21, 2017
•$1,000 Non-refundable Deposit Due: January 5, 2018
"BU-Bound" Binding Decision Program (From the BU Website):
Applicants admitted through the BU-Bound Binding Decision Program will not be considered for merit scholarships. Applicants for whom financial aid is necessary for enrolling should not apply through the BU-Bound Binding Decision Program but rather through the regular decision program. BU-Bound applicants may qualify for need based scholarship but those decisions will not be made until after the deposit deadline for the BU Bound program.
In order to be considered for the “BU-Bound” Binding Decision Program you must have a reportable Law School Admission Test (LSAT) score. The December 2017 administration is the last acceptable test date for candidates seeking admission through this program for the 2018 entering class.
Deadlines:
•Application Due by: January 9, 2018
•Application Complete by: January 12, 2018
•Notification by: January 31, 2018
•$1,000 Non-refundable Deposit Due: February 15, 2018

Checking in!
BU is a top pick for me, I think. I visited unofficially last year and really loved it.

Checking in! I will be visiting Boston for the first time this year, but I know many people who have lived there and they all rave about it.

Anyone other than Bronx get a fee waiver from BU? Any after the Sept scores came out?
I'm a little sad I didn't get one - BU fits very nicely with my goals and is my top realistic choice - maybe they just know that I will apply anyway, but man, those $85 fees add up...

I guess it's just me without one, then. Sigh...Mikey wrote:Got an unsolicited fee waiver
Just adding to my uneasy feeling about not having a reportable GPA and how it's going to play into admission decisions for different schools.

Checking in! I'm applying both here and BC, but I'm also taking the LSAT again in Dec, so I decided to tell BU to hold and BC to review. Good luck to everyone, Boston's a great city!

Does anyone have any idea what they look for with the Early Decision Distinguished Scholars app? I thought my stats were a little low for it but I don't want to not apply for it if I maybe have a chance.

Checking in! Also, did you all rework your resume to list literally every job, even though the app already does? I have been working for the past 10 years and listing every job on my resume will make it look much less attractive/extremely long...thoughts?

Re: Boston University C/O 2021 Applicants (2017-2018)
Assuming the past 10 years are all post high school (don't include HS WE), I would just include the past 5 years or most relevant work experience. The WE section & resume should be pretty redundant, that app section is just to make it in a more readable format. Good luck to you!wolfonlawstreet wrote:Checking in!
