I really like it here and think I have gotten over the shell-shock of being a 1L. I just had my first final on Friday and have my second tomorrow. I enjoy the other students and the professors, and also the location. I decided to attend because I was already here living in the area and they accepted me off the waitlist with $$$$$; it was also my first choice school because I already knew some of the faculty and there was one faculty member that I wanted to work on research projects with.rowdy wrote:Lol that won't be necessaryit's allgood wrote:rowdy wrote:I did in fact!it's allgood wrote: rowdy did you apply to UCI???????????????????
So cool!!! If you wind up coming here, I will ask you for your autograph!!! I am a 1L there now, and you are the total LSAT rockstar!! I remember from the June group!!!!
How do you like UCI? What made you choose to attend?

Song Richardson was just named dean of UCI. If you needed another reason to go here...she adds like 34795636. She's golden. I'm so excited!

Re: UC Irvine c/o 2021 Applicants (2017-2018)
First time writing here but I just wanted to join in!
I was admitted off the waitlist in 2016, but could not afford to go.
I reapplied since now I can
Application was submitted 12/20 but I still have not heard back from UCI Law confirming receipt of my application!
Anybody else waiting for them to confirm?
Wish all of us good luck

Thank you for taking questions.
How's the social life for 1L at UCI. Is it as collegial as people say?
How's Irvine in terms of places to hang, explore or spend weekends, if there is any weekend. Any nightlife or bars in the area?

So there's nothing to worry about the former dean leaving for UCB?CT6 wrote:Song Richardson was just named dean of UCI. If you needed another reason to go here...she adds like 34795636. She's golden. I'm so excited!

Did anyone else receive a...confusing scholarship email today?
Edit: I figured out what the email was saying now, though I still think it was pretty confusing, haha.

I'm a little more worried about the career services person leaving.barcafan202 wrote:Do you guys think UCI will still have high federal clerkship placement without Chemerinsky?

No, I don't believe so at all. Chem built something great, but he also put the right people around him. You should visit if you haven't had the chance

Re: UC Irvine c/o 2021 Applicants (2017-2018)
There is "bar review" most thursdays which is hanging out at a different bar in OC each time. The students are very nice not just 1Ls, the 2Ls and 3Ls also. There are places to hang out in Irvine like the Spectrum but even more if you expand to other parts of OC -- like Newport, Orange, etc.daiff wrote:abcdefg1234567 wrote:Current 1L here. In a word: no. Maybe it'll stay better than some similarly ranked schools, thanks to the aftereffects of Chem. But those numbers will definitely go down without him.barcafan202 wrote:Do you guys think UCI will still have high federal clerkship placement without Chemerinsky?

Irvine is a nice safe city that is more geared towards families, in my opinion. There are some decent places to eat and the UTC (University Town Center) is a center that is directly across from UCI where a few places are open late to eat/hang-out. Then you always have Newport Beach not too far, Los Angeles, San Diego, Big Bear, etc. Honestly, not a bad place to call home.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
