Anyway, all that to ask a potentially dumb question: I've been thinking about submitting a Why Texas essay while I wait for a rejection or interview request, but do they usually ask for that specifically or do they expect you to turn it in unsolicited?
Go ahead and email it to them. My interview request came a few days after I submitted mine.

They usually ask for it if you're OOS but I'd definitely write one unsolicited if I didn't have clear ties to the area.

edit: whoops, didn't see wmbuff's response. I'd just echo what he said.

Nope; it took me 10 days. 7 days since going complete.
Yeah it seems to vary a lot; mine had a ~15 hour turnaround between confirmation email and interview invite. (ahhhhhhhh! so freaking excited.)

Did my Texas interview today. No Why Texas question, which surprised. Also no request for a Why Texas essay. I'm out of state, so I just keep waiting for it.

They must have different questions because they asked me something similar to why Texas and I’m out of state

I’m in-state, didn’t submit one, and got asked it.
Might be random.

Also, 512 calls are going to be the death of me. Today, it was my pharmacist.

I received my interview invite this afternoon, and I just completed my interview. I got through all of the video questions without an issue, but I ended up scrapping me essay half way through and switching to something totally different so the time crunch got me. I think I answered the question pretty clearly, but I can't guarantee that it was perfectly written. How much weight do y'all think they give the written section, or the interview in general for that matter? I am in-state and already submitted a Why, so my question wasn't Why Texas.

Interesting! I had already submitted a Why, and still got it for my written question. It felt like a softball, having already done my research.

I was really hoping to get that one again, but no dice.

Rejected. Splitter, applied early, no interview, no why Texas. You might wanna send in that Why Texas if you're thinking about it!

This is credited. I'm also a splitter, and sent a Why Texas, then got the interview request soon after. Still pending, but that's a better place to be than rejected.

Still no movement. I guess I'd better submit a why Texas before they reject me.

Anyone know how many people get interviews? Is it a good sign?

ED, just got held for RD. OOS with low LSAT and high GPA. Any chance they offer me any scholarship money? I would assume not, hence why they held me for RD.

RD.
I'm ED, applied in early October, and have heard nothing. I was under the impression that submitting a Why Texas on top of applying ED was redundant, but I'm starting to reconsider. Maybe I should submit one anyways...

I'm just so confused about this radio silence and its driving me insane.

I'm same situation. I feel sick about this... I thought my numbers were pretty par the course for the school?
