I'm a splitter at their 75th LSAT but below 25th GPA. Submitted back in October but haven't heard back yet and I think some other splitters are in the same boat. Vandy is definitely my first choice and the only reason I wouldn't go if I got in is if I was forced to pay sticker. Would writing a "Why Vandy" talking about how it is my first choice and how much I would love to go help at all and maybe persuade an acceptance out of them instead of a waitlist or worse?
I can’t say how much it would help, but I am in the exact same situation as you are and I submitted one after I visited. It can’t hurt, right?
Yeah I’m going to visit when the new semester starts and then might write one after my visit. Hopefully someone who knows a bit more about it can help us
Outside of the T6 a Why essay will literally never hurt your chances with a school if it's well-written. I also wrote one that was based on my visit and submitted it with my app. I think Vandy has been moving slowly in general this cycle with respect to splitters so I don't think you're necessarily sunk if you don't send one in but if you think you can write a decent one then why not?

Has anyone who applied for LSMAs gotten a confirmation that Vanderbilt received their application? Want to make sure my scholarship app made it. :P

The replied with a confirmation email to me a couple days after I submitted.

Has anybody been rejected or waitlisted? I applied early october and interviewed late October. Tons of people have been accepted since then so I'm wondering if my radio silence implies I'll be rejected once they start actually rejecting people.

LSN has 4 rejects and 2 waitlists reported, all seemingly from early December but take that fwiw since there are so few.

Hello, waitlist. (Super splitter, applied October, interviewed November.)

+1. My dates are the same as yours. The silence is killing me; I have no idea what is going on.

I popped over to the reddit page last night and it seems like a bunch of people were accepted yesterday. Almost all applied in early December and didn’t have an interview. That seems odd to me considering many of us applied earlier, interviewed, and the interview was supposed to “expedite” the process

I'm in the same boat. Applied and interviewed in October and my numbers are right around the medians. I get the feeling that not being in yesterday's wave of acceptances and waitlists means we're getting rejected...

I wouldn’t go near that far. It seems curious to me that each person that got accepted was a later applicant with no interview. I applied and interviewed in early November and feel strongly about my numbers/interview. Nothing expect a letter of rejection means you’re rejected

Vandy's acceptance/ding/WL waves feel so arbitrary. They don't appear to be based on numbers, date of application, or URM status. It seems like they wake up in the morning and think "I'm gonna waitlist a bunch of December applicants today, then tomorrow I'll accept people that applied in late October."

I interviewed on campus with a member of the admissions staff, and she indicated that this is almost precisely how the dean of admissions operates. They come in to work and don't know what they'll be doing, and he'll say, "Let's do some admits today."

That sounds terrible for us, but all I can picture in my mind is Michael Scott from the Office running an Admission Office and pulling stunts like this :D

Yeah but looks like their numbers were quite a bit above median. For what it's worth I applied in Nov. and haven't heard anything either

Approaching the "8 week since complete" mark that the status checker gives as a guideline for apps submitted in November-December. Hoping to hear something soon.

Two months since the interview that was supposed to "expedite" the process. Too early to email?

I still get the feeling that emailing isn't the right move yet. Does anybody disagree?
