Does anyone have any insight regarding the timeline of the admissions process, and when Vanderbilt starts getting back to people? My interview isn't scheduled until late October, and the person I talked to from admissions made it sound like they really don't start making decisions until that time.

Checking in! As someone who wants to practice in the south, Vandy is definitely one of my top choices. Good luck everyone!

From what I've heard, the first admission notices go out in November so that sounds right to me.HenryHankPalmer wrote:Does anyone have any insight regarding the timeline of the admissions process, and when Vanderbilt starts getting back to people? Last year it looks like the first wave of acceptances went out around 11/18. If you've already submitted I'm sure that you'll find out around then! Good luck!HenryHankPalmer wrote:Does anyone have any insight regarding the timeline of the admissions process, and when Vanderbilt starts getting back to people? Thanks so much for being open to questions! I'm also from the northeast (Boston), and I'm really hoping to practice in the south, so Vandy is definitely a top choice for me. Do you have any advice for splitters? I've drafted a "why Vandy" essay and plan on interviewing, but of course I'm looking for any and all ways to improve my chances and demonstrate my ability to them!Thomas Hagan, ESQ. wrote:Current 1L here, feel free to ask any questions!

Vanderbilt recently didn't have any Mexican American Students in a first-year class.
Do they receive a good boost in terms of admissions?

Re: Vanderbilt Law School c/o 2021 Applicants (2017-2018)
Interesting that you mention that because I got some info on that yesterday from a current Vandy Law professor I know. In light of getting a full scholarship to another school that's not as prestigious as Vanderbilt, I was asking him for advice and this is what he had to say: "Assuming Vandy accepts you, I think you would be likely to get a generous scholarship here as well. 90% of our students receive scholarships and the average award is $20k. Also, diversity is a priority and our Hispanic student population is always a priority because our closest competitor schools are in places with more Hispanics (Texas, USC, UCLA). So, you may end up with a very competitive scholarship offer from Vandy. Wait and see."urmlaw17 wrote:Vanderbilt recently didn't have any Mexican American Students in a first-year class.

So I think the answer to your question is yes! It doesn't apply to me as I'm half black/half white but I have a Hispanic first name so he just assumed I'm Hispanic, as so many do based on my name and complexion, haha.

LSAC doesn't separate Mexican Americans from Hispanics since 2012 but according to the 2011 Vanderbilt LSAC Guide, there were no Mexican-Americans in the whole student body in 2011.para219 wrote:Oh man.
