This is not good news...yan wrote: Sadly their ASW dates overlap with that of UVA and Michigan, which is a big bummer.
Oh yikes. That's a weird email to send out to candidates...soca_dancer wrote:feralflamingo wrote:What's the infamous faculty email? xD

Like 3 weeks ago Dean Chemerinsky sent an email to some candidates about forwarding their applications to faculty review because he couldn't make a decision on that specific candidate. But I guess that turned out to be a blessing
Are you kidding meyan wrote:Got an email acceptance this morning––very happy. Sadly their ASW dates overlap with that of UVA and Michigan, which is a big bummer.
I'm not ED and I was admitted on Monday.lawlawlawzz wrote:I wonder when they'll review those not admitted ED... Bottom of the stack?

Obviously the university has a reputation of being super liberal, but I wonder how that influences professors and classes at the law school? I've been too nervous to ask any of the admissions people or on the webinars - don't want to offend anyone
I'm definitely more liberal-leaning, but I want to go to a school that takes a well rounded approach to controversial topics. My experience in undergrad was pretty one-sided and I didn't like how afraid students were to have an unpopular opinion
Again, that was just my personal opinion, as you have yours. I wasn't basing my response on a situation where someone got, say, a 50% scholarship to Michigan and no money at Berkeley. If that happens and you aren't Bay Area-oriented, then by all means go to Michigan. In many other situations (I won't list them all) B at sticker makes sense. It depends on a wide range of factors in an individual's life.Wakhancorridor wrote:not trying to be rude but I don't think this is really the best way to look at law school pricing. I love berkeley law and its definitely the best fit for me, but (a) its not unique in that there are at least twelve other schools in the T14 that provide excellent job prospects and have incredible alumni networks--UVA as one example AND (b) Big Law prospects don't really justify full-price expenses.TrustMeImALawStudent wrote: I think Berkeley is a unique case.
I think going to Berkeley *is* worth sticker, but *only* because it remains a T14 *and* we have our own public interest loan forgiveness program *and* because folks who don't go the public interest route go clerkship or big law.
If you got into Berkeley Law, there is a decent shot you got into at least a handful of other T14s...
