Re: Berkeley Law c/o 2021 Applicants (2017-2018)
Hi, new to this thread and have a question. Can you ask Berkeley to review your application when you are registered for a future LSAT? I already have a score above their 75% from September, but I am retaking in December. Can you just notify admission after submitting your app or do they insist on waiting for the Dec score? Thx.

Pretty sure the standard policy is to evaluate the application as soon as it has an LSAT score unless you tell them to wait. Updating with a new LSAT score later is pretty common.wsq01 wrote:Hi, new to this thread and have a question. Hi, fellow reverse splitter! I was just assuming they would make me pay their fees since I'm not above both 75 percentiles. I'm sure you will get one too, especially if I did with an LSAT at their 25 percentile.chrysippusofsoli wrote:Why weren't you expecting any waivers from T25 schools? I would think that those stats would make you competitive at the lower T13's, if not higher. Good luck from a fellow reverse-splitter!wannabegenius wrote:My stats are 164/3.93. I'm a K-JD from MA. Maybe they just haven't finished sending them out? (God I wish I got one
I'm hoping that they were just starting out on the East Coast and working their way back west. Would love to not have to pay that application fee!

I'm in California and I got a fee waiver, but was because I requested one because I fit one of their MANY different attributes that get you one, I got a pell grant in college which allowed me to get it, just screenshoted my aid in undergrad and sent it to them, that's all that was necessary.

Re: Berkeley Law c/o 2021 Applicants (2017-2018)
Hi! Checking in.
Last week I received an e-mail from Berkeley encouraging me to apply after the LSAC reported them my info, as well as waiving my application fee (probably this e-mail has been sent to everyone, but still makes me pretty excited!) [as an extra piece of information, I did not show any interest on Berkeley prior receiving this e-mail].
I would like to know if anyone knows about possibilities of being considered by Berkeley being an "international student" (I'm a U.S. Citizen but I have lived 24 out of 25 years of my life in Europe. Finished my college education this year with a Master of Laws and I am a registered attorney).
I know that my GPA is not reportable due to being issued by a foreign institution (furthermore, my GPA it is pretty low for american standards, although I'm in the top 5% of my class). What do you think? Will they only take into account the LSAT?
I am worried about how my application will be processed compared to everyone else's. I know that my situation is pretty uncommon, and that is why I would appreciate so much getting some advice. I got an average/good LSAT score (167), but obviously that score by itself is not enough to be accepted into a T-14.
Thank you so much for your advice!

Is it worth applying Early Decision to Berkeley? I don't mind almost sticker for Berkeley. That's if I can even get it.
It's my top choice for law school. I have roots in the bay area.
I have a 168 LSAT, 2.9 GPA. Mex URM.

unless your parents/family are fronting the bill, do not pay sticker for Berkeley. Hard to say whether applying early decision will help you because the program is new, but it does come with 60k so it is far better than sticker price.urmlaw17 wrote:Is it worth applying Early Decision to Berkeley? I'm planning on retaking in December but do you think I'd have a better chance if I applied earlier in the cycle (now) with my current numbers?dietcoke1 wrote:I would apply. Re: Berkeley Law c/o 2021 Applicants (2017-2018)
Hard to say. It is usually always better to apply with a higher LSAT but if you think your LSAT is still going to be below the 25th then it may be better to apply earlier. Also not sure how Berkeley admissions is going to be this year given that the Dean of Admissions is retiring and we have a new dean.jjdude14 wrote:I'm planning on retaking in December but do you think I'd have a better chance if I applied earlier in the cycle (now) with my current numbers?dietcoke1 wrote:I would apply. Anyone under review yet? And if so, when did you apply and are you ED/RD?

I talked with an admissions officer a few weeks ago and they said the same admissions process would be happening with Dean Tom leaving this year. Also, they said taking the December LSAT will not hurt you as long as you send your app in promptly once those scores are released. I would just take december and send in your application once those scores go live.dietcoke1 wrote:Hard to say. Did the admissions officer give any indication about whether their policy for splitters was the same?jel2184 wrote:I talked with an admissions officer a few weeks ago and they said the same admissions process would be happening with Dean Tom leaving this year. She didn't go into that much detail but she pretty much said:
1. admission process will stay the same as previous years
2. Taking December lsat wont hurt your application process as long as you send in your apps once you get your score back.
3. Everything else im not sure

Re: Berkeley Law c/o 2021 Applicants (2017-2018)
This may be true but if Berkeley's admissions does change (i.e. focusing on higher LSATS), that is something they are unlikely to share with applicants.jel2184 wrote:PurpleOkapi wrote:Did the admissions officer give any indication about whether their policy for splitters was the same?jel2184 wrote:I talked with an admissions officer a few weeks ago and they said the same admissions process would be happening with Dean Tom leaving this year. Anyone know if B offers full tuition scholarships? I know they do that weird matching thing but it's supposed to be pretty inconsistent as to which offers they actually match.

I was under the impression that they stopped matching scholarships beginning last cycle. Is this still going on informally?dm1683 wrote:Anyone know if B offers full tuition scholarships? Formal matching program is over. They negotiate like any other school now.chrysippusofsoli wrote:I was under the impression that they stopped matching scholarships beginning last cycle.
