I'm definitely more liberal-leaning, but I want to go to a school that takes a well rounded approach to controversial topics. My experience in undergrad was pretty one-sided and I didn't like how afraid students were to have an unpopular opinion
It's a law school, so it's a professional academic atmosphere where people on all sides politely speak their mind, in and out of class. The Bay Area is very liberal/leftist, and that influences our law school. However, there is a small and dedicated Federalist Society at Boalt, and they do just fine. My own politics are very far left, and I feel Boalt is not far left, but moderate. I have friends in the Federalist Society (and I absolutely do not share their politics). We all get along.

I assumed as much being a professional program versus the atmosphere of like a PhD program, but good to know. Thanks!

Didn't get the faculty review email, above both 75ths, and nothing yet :( AND it was the first school that put me "under review". Sadly expecting a ding.

Under review since 11/6 and waitlisted by email just now. 171, 3.7, Why Berkeley submitted.

WL email specifically notes the significantly increased volume of applications this year.

Got the email. Waitlisted at Berkeley despite being over both 75ths. Could this be YP or do I just suck?

Does anyone know if California residency increases chances? Or decreases chances of being waitlisted?

Also above both 75ths (plus Why Berkeley) and waitlisted as well. OOS and no ties to Berkeley/CA whatsoever so I'm thinking that's a factor, and if the "Trump bump" is legit (email cited increase in applications this year) I feel like Berkeley would get an especially large increase compared to other schools because of its rep as a bastion of liberal ideals. I hope I get in off the waitlist, but I've already been accepted to three amazing schools (one ranked higher than Berkeley) so my ego isn't bruised too badly!

Also wrote a Why Berk, also no CA ties, also already accepted to several schools higher ranked than Berkeley. I'm not totally heartbroken, but I'm definitely confused. :?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
