Re: Berkeley Law c/o 2021 Applicants (2017-2018)
So I need some advice. I am scheduled to take the December LSAT (wasnt ready for September) and my application is pretty much done minus my LSAT score. Do you think this will hurt my chances or turning in my application early January will be ok? Im not sure how the ED program will affect my chances this cycle, Berkeley is my top choice so I really want to maximize my chances here. Thanks!

I like it a lot. Professors and faculty seem to genuinely care for us and the atmosphere here seems to live up to its reputation (people are nice and down to earth). Chemerinsky has so far lived up to the hype. He had all the 1Ls over at his house for dinner and the things he has planned seem to be exactly what Berkeley needs.

I have an appointment with an admissions counselor next week.
Has anyone gone to one? What did you ask?

Checking in. Kinda bottom of the list for me, but I'm LGBT and a super lib so it would probably be a good fit.

I hear ya, campus politics notwithstanding, the school's own marketing videos came off to me as a bit too much on the errrr "unserious" side of things. Law school doesn't have to be three years of hell but I'm not paying money for carpool karaoke. Hopefully I don't sound too stuffy. Nevertheless its a great school that seems to care a lot about its students on a personal level and I will apply and possibly attend if given the chancePlatopus wrote:Was thinking of applying, but I don't think I could stand the culture.

I did, I have an interest in the intersection of business, law, and social justice so spoke to that and I previously met one of the admission staff at a forum so I mentioned their name and some of the programs we discussed that interested me. I think if you can develop 3-4 reasons why Berkeley really interests you, do research and include specific details further expounding on them in a 1-page format it would be worth while.

Re: Berkeley Law c/o 2021 Applicants (2017-2018)
Two questions.dietcoke1 wrote:chanel1302 wrote:damn I would have thought for sure you ended up at Stanford. How do you like Berkeleydietcoke1 wrote:1L at Berkeley. Only been here a month but I'm open to answering any questions.
First, has Chemerinsky indicated anything about admissions going forward? Berkeley is known for being one of the most stingy schools when it comes to GPAs. However with their plummeting LSAT median, and subsequent falling in the polls, do you think he will tell admissions to be more splitter friendly? His time at Irvine shows he knows how to game the rankings, and a large part of that has to do with the medians. I can't see that happening without letting in more splitters and/or significantly increasing scholarship offers. Since they are actually losing funding from the state and he hasn't been around long enough to fundraise much, I can't help but feel they will have to be more splitter friendly this cycle. Any thoughts?
Second, do you feel like the stuff we see in the news concerning the main campus and politics/protests are spilling over to the law school? Wasn't Ben Shapiro just there? Did the disruptions affect the law school? Thanks.
