Just submitted my interview (9th day ). I feel pretty confident about my interview but not sure how much it actually matters. Literally sent it in a few hours ago and now I’m agonizing .

Does anyone have any idea how big of a deal being requested to interview is for Cornell (like does getting a request indicate a strong chance of acceptance, assuming you don’t self-destruct in the interview)?

everyone who gets accepted is interviewed but a lot of ppl interviewed get waitlisted or rejected.... it's definitely a good sign but not a guarantee

I interviewed and think I did okay, but not great - it was definitely my most awkward interview of the cycle. I got waitlisted (or “reserve”) in spite of, or maybe because of, the fact that I’m above both 75ths. Anyways, no guarantees with the interview. But if you rock it and are genuinely interested in Cornell, I bet you’ll get it!

Thankful for Cornell's 1000 character "Why X" limit. I've been writing dissertations this week.

Just did my interview for Cornell... While I didn't hate it completely, it was definitely weird and I'm not sure how well I did at all. Not a fan of Kira haha

Did mine yesterday (late at night, hopefully they won't judge). The format definitely felt very odd; I would have preferred an in-person interview. I think a lot of people are uncomfortable with Kira, though, so I hope the adcomm will be sympathetic.

Got Interview Request 12/18, completed interview 12/27. Is that bad? Still no update on status checker. I was nervous so I kept putting it off. I’m not very optimistic since my stats aren’t high but happy I’m being considered at least.

No, I did my interview on day 9 and it wasn't a problem. Your status checker hasn't updated because they're closed for holiday. Director of admissions told me they'd be back January 2nd, so I wouldn't expect a status update until then.

Just being completely OCD--the "practice" interview questions on the Kira platform are the questions we'll receive in the actual recorded interview, and not just practice for using the platform?

Based on what I've seen from other Kira interviews, no, they're different questions. Cornell specifically asks folks not to share interview questions, but there are some in last year's thread, around page 40, which have been confirmed to be useful.

My practice questions were completely different from the real ones. I ignored the practice questions and used that time to get used to the format and practice my answers for questions on that list.

Just finished the interview. Personally I didn't find the format awkward. I highly suggest that you practice with timed video recordings of yourself answering the list of questions from last year's cornell posts, to get used to looking at yourself answering the question.

For the scholarship form I can't decide if I should check both merit and merit/need, or just merit. I highly doubt that I'd get any need aid, but ya never know. If I check both would that affect any potential merit aid?

Dinged. Kind of expected it, and at least they didn't drag it out.

A rather nice email that included information about applying to transfer.

Also dinged today. Had to laugh at the transfer information. Basically them saying, "Hey, we don't like you this year. Maybe we still won't like you in a year! Also, just because we don't like you doesn't mean we don't think you'll succeed.
