I'm sure I'm not YP, I'm a <25 >75 splitter. I'll probably write a LOCI though. How have previous waitlistees written email to remain on the list?Bush v. Gorgeous wrote:Agreed - I'm wondering YP? Sorry man. But maybe this is "but do you REALLY want to come to Cornell?" and if you show them yes, it will just be a small blip in your beautiful relationship. Got accepted today! Not my top choice, but I really like Ithaca and am hoping for some $$$. 172 / 4.13, had my interview last Thursday.
This makes me feel a bit better about my lack of a JS1

FINALLY got the interview request and legitimately excited despite everyone's warnings that it is heinous.

It's honestly not that bad if you've interviewed for something before. At least in my opinion. You'll do great!Bush v. Gorgeous wrote:FINALLY got the interview request and legitimately excited despite everyone's warnings that it is heinous.

Are the questions similar to other schools? Trying to figure out what makes Cornell's interview worse than others?

Maybe the writing portion? I'm not sure. 5 minutes of writing time felt sufficient to me. Other than the writing, it's exactly like the Northwestern interview through the same application/website.ATXStudent wrote:I just got the request today as well.andysimbi wrote:It's honestly not that bad if you've interviewed for something before. I'd say the questions are easier than a Skype/in-person interview because they're very general, and you get time to stare into space and prep, so there's not really much happening to throw you off your game (unless you psych yourself out).

Re: Cornell Applicants Class of 2021 (2017-2018)
Just had a truly awful interview. Everything that I could have messed up I did. Gosh, I feel personally attacked and I practiced too. Well, guess there's nothing to do but sit around and sulk until I get my ding email. As a reverse-splitter I needed that interview to help me, but it definitely didn't. The ONE good thing was that I remembered to say my name in the first question. Rant over.

I'm sure you did the rest better than me! I'm recovering but ugh what a bummer. I wish I had just cut myself off instead of rambling to try to fill in the minute. I think that was my biggest mistake.emx0824 wrote:Hey cheer up, that is one thing you absolutely did better than me!!!wannabegenius wrote:Just had a truly awful interview. Just completed my interview. Definitely a little harder than Northwestern in terms of questions asked. Not a terrible experience though.

On the interview do you get time before each question to plan out your answer?

Just finished the “interview.” I thought it was kind of fun? It’s 7 questions - I think it was 4 videos and 3 written.

Finally did my interview... I didn’t think it was too bad. Definitely sounded dumb on one question, but I felt good overall.

Did my interview this morning. It was actually kind of fun! I liked only having a minute to answer because it made me get to the point and avoid rambling on.

Guys, just to be clear, the video was NOT recording during our next question prep, right? I assumed that it was not and while I did not do anything weird, I probably made some confused/frustrated expressions.
