LOL that 4+ gpa does kind of change things for my case:p but still! It isn't unheard of... Regardless, good luck to you all! I'm not putting all of my eggs in this basket, but oh it would be nice to squeeze in an acceptance.Piggy11 wrote:Congrats on the JS1! For the sake of renewed hope, I'm going to pretend we're somewhat similar (171, (mildly) interesting background) and ignore the fact that your 4.13 GPA is not quite the same as my no GPA.

Similar stats with no JS1 -- 171/4.0, strong softs, Not an URM, submitted 10/19 complete 10/24...Timofey_Pnin wrote:Basically same here again, GPA well above 75th and LSAT 1 point below median. Care to share the interesting background? Would be interested to know what the admissions committee found enticing. Totally understand if not.dallinpackard wrote:Thank you! congrats on your JS1! I am below the 25th in GPA and below the 75th in LSAT and not a URM. Don't know if this shows that the pool of JS1s has increased or the Adm Committee considers my softs to be strong...rachelac wrote:I have yet to see any JS1s for anyone who is not above at least one of the 75ths or a URM.
By which I mean to say - congrats to all for both your JS1s and your numbers! But the rest of us can probably take a deep breath

I thought it was pretty enjoyable! Extremely nice interviewer. Felt more like a conversation than an interview, albeit short.14141453 wrote:How did people feel about their interviews? Mine felt much less personal than the one I did with Chicago and was about half the length. Is that typical?

Also I'm really amazed by how well they know your resume. Kudos to the HLS admissions staff. They really did their homework.14141453 wrote:How did people feel about their interviews? Mine felt much less personal than the one I did with Chicago and was about half the length. Is that typical?

Submitted last night. Any sense of how long it takes for an interview to get scheduled? HLS says that it has "received" my file from LSAC, which had everything they needed. Does it not "complete" until the interview?

Is there a stated or understood reason why someone would or would not be offered an interview?Platopus wrote:Not everyone is interviewed, so it will go complete regardless.aegor wrote:Submitted last night. You can't be accepted without an interview, so those who aren't interviewed are deemed unfit from the outsetaegor wrote:Thanks to all!

Also my understanding is the general timeline for people who are admitted is : Received > Complete > JS1 > JS2. From lurking this thread it appears there's always at least a few days between received and complete, then a few days (or weeks?) before JS1.aegor wrote:Thanks to all!

So mine just went complete after about 20 days. It's relatively long. Is it normal? And do you guys think I will catch the Nov/Dec waves of JS1?

Re: Harvard Law c/o 2021 Applicants (2017-2018)
Weird question, but does anyone know if HLS would call your employer to verify work history? I have my JS1 scheduled for Monday, and yesterday my workplace got a call from a Harvard admissions office asking about employment verification. I haven't told my bosses that I'm applying yet. My coworker who knows I'm applying let me know about the call and transferred it to HR, although we obviously don't know who it was about specifically. Did HLS just out me to my employer? Anyone heard of them conducting verification calls pre-interview, or at all?

Did the caller say that the call was specifically for you or did they just say it was about employment verification in general?magicpencils wrote:Weird question, but does anyone know if HLS would call your employer to verify work history? The caller didn't give the name to my coworker who answered the phone, just said employment verification, so it really could be about anyone. It's just the weird coincidence of the timing that's freaking me out. And I never provided my employer's phone number or contact details, but it's very accessible online with just the name and city.lobsicle wrote:Did the caller say that the call was specifically for you or did they just say it was about employment verification in general?magicpencils wrote:Weird question, but does anyone know if HLS would call your employer to verify work history? Re: Harvard Law c/o 2021 Applicants (2017-2018)
It's possible it was about you, but I'd honestly be surprised that they would call without asking you first if it was ok. They know a lot of applicants haven't yet told their employers they're applying. HLS admissions has a lot to do, more than just J.D. admissions. Wouldn't be surprised if it's about something wholly unrelated. You should be able to safely ask HR--I don't think they're supposed to share private details with management.magicpencils wrote:The caller didn't give the name to my coworker who answered the phone, just said employment verification, so it really could be about anyone. I'd follow up with HR. That's... kind of invasive, isn't it?magicpencils wrote:The caller didn't give the name to my coworker who answered the phone, just said employment verification, so it really could be about anyone.
