I'm curious about this as well! Would the 8th be too early to, realistically, hope for (no interviews on that date, iirfc)?ArthurTimothyRead wrote:Any JS2 predictions? 1/25/18ish seems likely.

Congrats and good luck! Do JS1 invites get sent throughout the day or is it all at once? Wasn't expecting more invites this week considering the weather and holidays.dm1683 wrote:JS1, finally...thank god.

That your application has been transmitted to them but they have not yet checked to make sure everything is there that needs to be.mobilevids929 wrote:My status checker has a green check and received, but no complete... They received my application 12/19. What exactly does this mean??

Sorry to be late to the party. I got JS2 in the December wave. GPA below median, 173, K-JD, HYPS undergrad, from a state that doesn't send many people to Harvard if that matters. Interview was in late/mid November. Submitted mid October.

At this point, I'd honestly give a kidney for a JS1 invite.

3L checking in. Good luck to everyone waiting on that JS1/JS2 (aka most people); I didn't get the latter until mid March (and perhaps the former, too, iirc), so try not to stress if you're in that boat. Feel free to pm me if you have any questions!

Did anyone who's already had their JS1 have issues with the zoom client? I haven't received a zoom contact request from the admissions staff although my interview is scheduled for tomorrow afternoon (I just received the reminder e-mail) and I'm wondering whether I should just wait or reach out now about it.

Hello all,
First time on this forum situation. I have a general question I've been unable to find information on.
I applied with GRE scores. I'm an international with 4 years of work experience in very large/recognizable names. Does anyone have any information on what the median for those should look like? Any JS1 recipients who applied with GRE? My application was marked completed November 30th.
Thanks!

I received the contact request right before the interview (I believe ~30 minutes). They'll find you, don't worry! Re: Harvard Law c/o 2021 Applicants (2017-2018)
I think there were a couple GRE only applicants earlier in the cycle who got JS1s, but this year there really is no way of knowing what GRE is needed to get a JS1 since this is all still very new.Caracas-guy wrote:Hello all,

What's the current theory of the crowd on when the next JS2 round will be?

I think most likely end of January, end of February, middle of march, end of march. Like last yearwinmore1228 wrote:What's the current theory of the crowd on when the next JS2 round will be?

Re: Harvard Law c/o 2021 Applicants (2017-2018)
i think you have really good softs and they def will count. you may be the kind of applicants they had in mind with gre changes. to be clear, i didn't mean to suggest anything related to what the eventual gre mean/median for HLS may turn out to be this cycle. it may well be that 168q/162v is in the neighborhood of their median. but considering H has always been very numbers driven admission it's reasonable to believe that they'd be looking for near top percentile GREs.lutherblissett wrote:It depends. I took the GRE once during the two weeks I spent at home visiting friends and family in 2017 - rest of the time, I was working/out of the country. And my resume would show the major time crunch I had in studying for this exam. Never even looked at an LSAT test prep book, because it’s prohibitively expensive (generally speaking, fly down to HK) for me to take the LSAT rightt now. For me, the lower Q score has been buttressed by a number of courses in statistics and economics in which I got an A, so there’s definitely reasoning that the Q score is lower than my usual.appind wrote:congratslutherblissett wrote:Hopping in late to this, but I just got a JS1! It's past midnight here in China (American expat, so domestic applicant, technically) but I stayed up to make the appointment because most appointment times are during the middle of the night here... first world problems!
50 < GPA < 75 - though pretty close to hitting the 75th percentile
GRE: 168V (98%ile) 162Q (81%ile) 5.5AW (98%ile)
i assume no LSAT. it seems GRE verbal score (or/and GRE AW score) is being given more emphasis than quant. so perhaps comparing cumulative GRE to LSAT by converting total GRE to GMAT to get an overall percentile score isn't actually applicable.
I'm also applying for a joint degree and my scores are at the level for which HKS wouldn’t worry about it, i.e. if I’m rejected from the Kennedy School then it wouldn’t be because of my GRE score. I actually used HKS’ rather detailed and extensive admissions blog to formulate all my applications to law and public policy school, which led to a detailed narrative focused on public service and personal growth moreso than anything else, which I suspect has been to my favor, because my story is not exceptional but rather uncommon for a JD aspirant.
My resume also does have a mix of the legal and the political: worked part-time in a law firm during undergrad, three refereed publications - incl. South China Sea/maritime law & on counterterrorism, research-based DC internships, and 8+ years of Model UN - lots of staffing & lots of competitions (although the last is definitely not special for JD applications).
So I would suggest that until US News manages to alter its algorithms to include the GRE, numbers aren’t everything, I suppose.
how they quantify GRE scores is really a big puzzle, it may not be surprising if they only pick GRE verbal section scores for their admissions purpose.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
