I live just up the street, how do you think I feel every day :P
 That’s rough!! Luckily I am a good 1,000 miles removed! But hopefully being right down the street will just mean an easy commute for you next year

50 < GPA < 75 - though pretty close to hitting the 75th percentile
GRE: 168V (98%ile) 162Q (81%ile) 5.5AW (98%ile)
congrats

i assume no LSAT. it seems GRE verbal score (or/and GRE AW score) is being given more emphasis than quant. so perhaps comparing cumulative GRE to LSAT by converting total GRE to GMAT to get an overall percentile score isn't actually applicable.

It depends. I took the GRE once during the two weeks I spent at home visiting friends and family in 2017 - rest of the time, I was working/out of the country. And my resume would show the major time crunch I had in studying for this exam. Never even looked at an LSAT test prep book, because it’s prohibitively expensive (generally speaking, fly down to HK) for me to take the LSAT rightt now. For me, the lower Q score has been buttressed by a number of courses in statistics and economics in which I got an A, so there’s definitely reasoning that the Q score is lower than my usual.

I'm also applying for a joint degree and my scores are at the level for which HKS wouldn’t worry about it, i.e. if I’m rejected from the Kennedy School then it wouldn’t be because of my GRE score. I actually used HKS’ rather detailed and extensive admissions blog to formulate all my applications to law and public policy school, which led to a detailed narrative focused on public service and personal growth moreso than anything else, which I suspect has been to my favor, because my story is not exceptional but rather uncommon for a JD aspirant.

My resume also does have a mix of the legal and the political: worked part-time in a law firm during undergrad, three refereed publications - incl. South China Sea/maritime law & on counterterrorism, research-based DC internships, and 8+ years of Model UN - lots of staffing & lots of competitions (although the last is definitely not special for JD applications).

So I would suggest that until US News manages to alter its algorithms to include the GRE, numbers aren’t everything, I suppose.

CarpeDiem17 wrote:Hi everyone. My app has been complete for a couple of months, and I'm LSAT > 75th and GPA > 50th, but haven't yet received a JS1. I've been out of school for awhile and have an employer recommendation that I didn't submit with my original app. Do you think there's any benefit to sending in that letter now? It's probably a strong letter. Thanks so much for any thoughts!
I asked Spivey the same question (generally, not for Harvard in particular) and he recommended I wait if I get waitlisted or something. That's what I plan to do for the apps I submitted without one! That said, I did send my employer letter of rec when I submitted my app for Harvard, and my JS1 was almost entirely about my job/professional experience -- both the work that I do and how I operate in a work setting.
Thanks so much for your reply! It does sound like a good idea to keep a letter on hand in case of a waitlist situation. That being said, it also sounds like an employer letter may be helpful, and something Harvard may be interested in. I'll see how things progress!

While continuing to stress is no good, you shouldn’t take anything but an actual ding as a ding. You definitely sill have a chance!
