I feel like it's possible but it depends on your numbers and the speediness of the faculty member who reviewed your file. Most of us wont be fully considered, I think, until end of February.
Check the spreadsheet. I think it's possible. I had mine in the third week of Dec. I think there are a couple like that last year got JS2s in Jan.

Sorry if this is repetitive, but where's the spreadsheet?

Just to reassure some folks before next week’s wave: judging by the spreadsheets (page 1 of this thread), very few people who did their JS1 in January (a couple within the first week) received a January-wave JS2; The vast majority got them in February and March. So if you interviewed recently and don’t get a JS2 next week, it’s not a big deal.

International checking in here! 174/Superior

Quick question, I took around two years off during college to fulfill a military requirement. Would I still be K-JD?
(I do realize, though, that Harvard doesn't actually have a KJD category or something of the like)

Two questions:

1) Harvard doesn't have K-JD?

2) Completely unrelated, but if someone who was in the second wave of JS1s doesn't hear back in the next wave of JS2s, should they be concerned or assuming a WL / ding is waiting for them?

K-JD, to my understanding, is just terminology that we've made up here on TLS. Harvard definitely accepts people straight through from undergrad, and you can find the percentages of that on their website. For military service, I'd assume that would count as experience, as you've now done a couple years of military service, so you didn't actually go straight through to law school from undergrad. So I don't think I would consider you a KJD, but like, I'm just a random guy so who's to say.

To Monica's q2: Especially with how this cycle is shaking out in terms of timing, no, I wouldn't be concerned or assume a WL/ding is waiting for you if you don't hear from them. Often it feels like there's little rhyme/reason to the order in which people get results back, especially depending on your specific stats and other softs and things. I would be v surprised if, in past years, there weren't plenty of people who got JS2s "out of order." I realize that's not really a helpful answer and it doesn't help with our desire to like, try to find some reason and understanding in what's going on in admissions, but honestly, no, I wouldn't assume you were destined for a rejection if you didn't hear back in the next JS2 wave.

If by “adjusting your hopes” you mean listening to a lot of Adele break up music and having very realistic dreams where you think you got into Harvard and then wake up and get real sad, then same.

I much prefer Beyonce to give the vibe that I'm better off without Harvard and they would be hurting not to have me.

But basically same.

We don't need to give up for a while. Seems like there will still be around 10 more JS1 waves this cycle. I think the reason they haven't sent mine yet is that they're busy devising a brand new full ride scholarship to give me.

I think that the next JS2 will be pretty inclusive from a temporal perspective. As people have said, there are plenty more JS1 waves to come, so realistically only a relative handful of people have had a JS1. Only a portion of those interviewees were sent on to faculty review, and the faculty review process is likely more straightforward than the adcom review process.

Thus, I would be surprised if our imminent JS2 wave didn’t include JS1s from the first week of January.

Based on previous cycles, and with a consideration of the facts that this cycle has more applicants and applications, how many more JS2's should we expect?

You're right according to this 2014 post:

File checking and distribution --> admissions staff read --> JS1 --> faculty read --> final decision

Do they also call for JS2 or send an email?

I heard they email acceptances for international admits or U.S. admits living abroad. As long as you put your UK address as your current address on your app

Still, according to spreadsheets, there is a chance first week Jan JS1s hear back on Monday, including candidates below LSAT median. However, probably best to bet on February or, if you get passed up on that review, March.

There was someone on this thread who's abroad and got a JS2 call on the first wave! So it looks like it could be a call, though that's definitely not a guarantee.

I'm abroad too and would LOVE to get a phone call for the JS2 -- it just feels like it would make already exciting news even more exciting! I don't know about you but I've found email acceptances to be a bit anticlimactic lol

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
