That depends. We can talk more about it via PM or offline, I don't want to totally clog up the thread. But there are pros and cons to each.abujabal wrote:That's the hope! Seattle is home, so I definitely know I want to be here long-term, and that extends to the summers as well - would you recommend doing that for the course of 1L and 2L summers? Or should I try to "burnish" a resume with a DC gig or something? Though this is a lot of cart before horse talk I supposemcmand wrote:You won't have a problem finding government/non-profit externships. And you should do all right finding a job after graduation, though it's still competitive. Wherever you're thinking you might want to work, be sure to extern/work there for at least a quarter or a summer. That's the best way to get in on an entry-level job opening. And save money for bar exam expenses during 3L, because even if you have a post-grad gig lined up with the government or a non-profit, they won't pay for that stuff.abujabal wrote:- Ideal outcome is Seattle PI work, so this is the ideal set-upmcmand wrote:In the name of distraction so you guys don't obsess too much about waiting for decisions:

Not 100% sure, but my gut interest is copyright/softer IP litigation--I come from a media/communications background, so that's up my alley I think. But who knows! I'm wanting to go in to school with an open mind.mcmand wrote:Are you thinking patent prosecution or patent litigation, or more focused on trademarks and other soft IP (litigation or otherwise)?jellyjar wrote:I wanna do IP/tech law, and UW has a great program (and Seattle is obvi a tech hub). Many moons ago I got my initial decision (waitlist) in December. There is plenty of time left in 2017 for something to happen!

I just got the following update note on my status checker:
“Your file requires additional review: Your file has been reviewed initially, however, additional consideration is needed. This additional review is nothing unusual and we will resume reviewing your application beginning January when the full admissions committee meets. Please contact us with any questions or concerns. We appreciate your patience. You will be notified of your decision via email and this page will also be updated.”
My status date also updated to 11/30. So I guess this is somewhere between a UR2 and a waitlist. So I won’t expect anything from then again until January...

Applied 10/4
UR 10/18-ish
In 11/30 at around 4:40 PM PST,
168/3.5
middle-severity C&F addendum, non URM.
March 19 EARLIEST date for scholarship info though on the separate scholarship application? Might be worth a little more waiting, even as an In-state
Also i hope anyone else with behavioral misconduct related C&F issues is reading this and knows that it doesn't hurt your chances if you just disclose openly and honestly and try to do the best you can outside of it. I'm PUMPED regardless of my scholarship gripes because I genuinely didn't know whether or not i'd get into any schools I applied to.

This how they always handle scholarships. They wait until they're largely done with admissions to make initial offers. If you review threads from previous years, usually it's within a week or so of the deadline. And, assuming you genuinely want to go to UW, it is worth hanging on for second round if you don't get anything or too little in the first, as folks drop off from the first round and money gets distributed around to those who remain.lillelord wrote: March 19 EARLIEST date for scholarship info though on the separate scholarship application? Just went in review as well! Do people know if they call if it's good news? I won't have access to my phone intermittently for a few days at a time, so I want to make sure I'm not missing anything
