Good to hear! Sounded like a mini yp to begin with
that reminds make, make sure you all take the Why Duke seriously!
Yes. Duke has and will deny people who should get in numbers wise for a bad or halfhearted why duke essay. They do it every year. Given that Duke has the 3rd smallest class size in the top 10 law schools, the admissions staff actually has the opportunity to pick and choose a little more than other schools.
So the Duke "Why X", according to their website is more of a "Why Law?". Did you guys write explicitly about Duke? Or did you make the paragraph more of a personal statement about your desire to pursue a law degree, and why Duke is a good fit?
Personally, mine was definitely a "Why Duke". That being said, my PS focused a lot on "why law" and in my Why X I always spoke a lot about what I was looking for in a law school so it's possible they viewed that as answering the why law question?

To make a short answer long and then short again, I didn't attack the essay like it was a why law and all the advice given last year was similarly to focus on the school unless maybe you didn't talk about what was driving you to law in other places in your app
Good advice, thanks. I'll treat it as a "Why X" then.
FWIW the instructions in the app are different than what's on the site. The app doesn't mention why law at all, it's all Why Duke.

Got an email today about an info session along with Cornell, UChicago, and Stanford in Atlanta. Anybody else going?/Is it worthwhile to go?

Because of PT, is there an additional need to get in your apps early for Duke (specifically for a splitter)? I'm assuming they're filling seats a lot quicker than schools that take until December or January to send out acceptances.

ACCEPTED! Received my email at 12:01pm. Mailing section of my Status Checker was updated with "Welcome Packet" around 9:00am so I sort of already knew, but this confirms it. They are doing the whole "provisionally accepted" thing again this year, but the only provision is that you complete the scholarship form in December, and apparently is not contingent on an interview.

Hey guys, long time lurker but first time posting! Can those of you who have been accepted PT tell me how many days you were Under Review? I've been UR for four days now. Also wondering if they ever send out decisions on the weekend? I'm really hoping I don't have to wait til Monday

This is my 10th day since being complete, 9th day under review and no decision yet. I remember in the initial PT email it said that decisions can come at all hours of the day, and I think you can also get in on the weekend.

I submitted 9/1, complete 9/5, UR 9/6, UR2 9/13, accepted 9/14.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
