How are your cycles going so far?

I've gotten 4/9 decisions so far, but I still have a ton of apps to submit this month + in early January. I retook the LSAT in December so I'm still "incomplete" at some of the schools I've applied to.

Well, I heard back from 4/16 (Mich, GULC, WUSTL and GWU). All positive responses and good money from GWU and Michigan, +full ride from wustl even tho I can hardly see myself livin in St. Louis, Missouri... So, in general, I'd say that my app is not too bad.

However, I'm concerned about almost every other school I applied to since I applied in sept/oct and I'm not hearing back!

I'm less and less confident about H, I'm complete since 10/30 and I didn't get anything in the first 4/5 waves of JS1, as opposed to other internationals and other people that applied even 1 month later.
S is such a reach that I don't really know what to think, and they didn't almost admit anyone so far.
I applied to Columbia in Dec so nothing strange here.
I was complete at NYU on 9/26 and UR2 since 12/4... They admitted other people from the same UR2 day so it smells like a ding. I applied for AnBryce and I'm convincing myself that's slowing my app response.
Still too early for UPenn RD.
I lost hope about UVA, but as we said they are pretty much an auto-ding for internationals (0/169 admitted last year).
Very early for NU RD.
I sit UR at Duke since 10/30 and still nothing. I'm not the only one tho, and I applied JD/LLM so I dunno.
Interviewed with Cornell 3 days ago.
Ghosted from UCLA. Strange. I applied for AS, either they are considering me for that or I'm dinged.

Just got an e-mail from USC saying they'll review my app after the holidays. I applied 9/25...

A quick question for any of you who understand the subject: if foreigners have 12 months of OPT, and you blow 3 months on each of 1L and 2L summers, would that not only leave you with 6 months following graduation (essentially June-December of that year)?

If so, wouldn't that be a problem for (A) clerkships, even if those few state and federal courts that do hire aliens, and (B) for the H1b lottery in general, filing for which only begins in April?

Am I missing something in this?

That's a good question... I always heard that you have 1 year after graduation but actually you seem to have a point... Maybe try to ask this on the legal employment thread and see what do they say!

You will be using CPT (curricular practical training) rather than OPT for summer internships.

I got unsolicited fee waivers from Penn, Cornell, WUSTL, and Vandy! Also managed to hustle fee waivers out of every other school I applied to except Columbia. Had to fill in a bunch of forms for the ones that only give out need-based waivers but saved me $500 so time well spent!

do you guys who live outside of the US got paranoid like me that since some schools give out decisions only by letters and the letter may get lost in the long long travel??? cant stop thinking if im dinged or just the slow mail

Try not to worry!! I applied late last cycle with a 167 and got offers from GW and UCIrvine and they both got to my tiny Asian country just fine...only very slowly...Acceptance packages are beautiful

Hi, I was curious, when schools send you letters, which address will they send to? It is the permanent address in your LSAC profile or whatever address you entered in your application for each school? I'm a bit concerned that it 's the former because I can't receive mail sent to my permanent address.

How are you guys faring this cycle? This radio silence from schools even more vindicates the hearsay that schools are harsh on internationals.

I'm doing ok, I think. Some schools behaving oddly to me (UR3 at Chicago with no interview invite, still stuck on interview requested at Cornell even though I submitted my interview a month ago and totally ghosted by Michigan) whilst I'm a bit disappointed not to hear back from Penn and NYU where domestic candidates with similar or worse stats and the same completion date have already received good news. Still, got good news from Northwestern, Georgetown and Wash U so thats something. And a JS1 from Harvard, which, whilst flattering, doesn't mean anything unless it turns into an offer.

So I'm not too worried YET. Wouldn't be surprised if I'm tearing my hair out a month from now though.

Same here regarding Chicago, got an acceptance from Cornell, Penn, Michigan with some scholly. No news from the big H or Northwestern though.

Has anyone interviewed for Columbia? I know that supposedly their interviews are random but it would be easy to understand if they wanted to interview internationals to 'figure them out.' Just wondering if I should prepare myself for bad news at all or if I can keep hoping that I might be included in this (supposedly) upcoming wave.'

BTW, did you guys see how much higher are our LSAT scores comparing this year's spreadsheet to last year's?
Last year: 16 people, 9 <170 / 7>=170
This year: 13 people, 1<170 / 12>=170!

Like wtf, I thought my score was awesome but I'm almost below average here!

I interviewed with Columbia earlier this month, went ok-ish, not awesome but not so bad it makes me nervous either. It was on the short side, all the general why Columbia why law questions, clarified a couple of things in my application. Honestly not sure where I stand with them. Submitted all my 9 apps from mid Nov to mid Dec and have not gotten a decision on a single one...going slightly mad with the daily status checking!

ESL here too! Reading a lot and writing down the structure of an article helped me with RC. I also reviewed every LR question and wrote down my thought process for the difficult questions. Can't say if it helped or not, but my practice scores ranged from 171-180 and I ended up getting a 174.

Finally got some good news this cycle! In at Columbia!!
Also JS1 in December, but nothing else so far from Harvard, so I'm guessing that's probably not happening...
