You guys think it's a bad sign if I haven't gotten an interview request with borderline stats but they requested my Fall grades?

Same here - I saw the interview email and thought "Uh-oh."
RD, complete 10/6, splitty-stats in profile.
I can see how you could be interviewed (because of being a splitter) but I don't know how I fit as a borderline candidate if I am above both medians. Didn't think there were any issues with my application but now I'm worrying :(

Congrats and good luck! When did you go complete?
Thanks! 9/21

Honestly I think being above one 75th and a median with a good PS or cool softs might make you Hammy-eligible (though maybe that's just wishful thinking on my end haha)

Any ideas as to what percentage of students ultimately admitted are invited to interview, and what percentage of those who are invited to interview are ultimately admitted?

If you're RD, it is INCREDIBLY unlikely they'd be looking at borderline candidates right now. ED I'm not sure.

I applied RD and yesterday received an interview offer for anytime next week. I went complete Nov 8, but my stats are below 25th (I’m a URM). I can’t help but think I’m a border candidate given my statistics. What brings you to believe they’re not looking at border candidates? I mean, I would love to think I’m a for sure candidate, but honestly speaking, nothing makes me believe that.

Alternatively, I’ve heard CLS offers interviews for “fringe” candidates and large scholarship recipients. I’m also surprised by the interview offer, especially so soon, so any context would be helpful.

I mean, look at it this way: they don't even know what their applicant class looks like for RD. So why bother interviewing borderline candidates when you don't even know if you can fill your class with all non-borderline?

Exactly, that makes perfect sense. But I’m RD and below the 25th percentile on LSAT and GPA (like, not even that close), so I’m just shocked that I’m being interviewed at all (even more because it’s so early). Like, they have no idea what the pool is going to look like, and sure I’m a URM, but there can be hundreds of URMs with better stats. I’m just trying to understand why. But I guess that’s not for me to speculate.

Has anyone submitted a dean’s certification because of the character fitness questions? My undergrad mailed it over a month ago and Columbia still says they haven’t got it so I’m asking them to mail another. Also is there a reason they require it by mail and not allow fax or email like duke/nyu? I’m honestly annoyed it’s holding up my app from being complete

Out of interest does anyone know what typical scholarship numbers are? I got an interview request but don't know what to make of it. I'm at both 75ths and got into a few other schools so I don't think there are any big issues with my app. But I thought scholarships were for 175+ people?

I'm confused by this -- I didn't submit a Dean's Certification, but my checker says I'm complete?

Did you answer yes to the C&F question about disciplinary action at university/college?
Ooh, no I didn't.

I did, and it took me a month to go complete. My certification was mailed to Columbia more than a month before I actually submitted, and I'm sure that's what caused the lag time. I was about to email them myself to ask if it had arrived/been found.

Thanks for the info I’ll ask my undergrad to send another but I think I just need to sit tight, thanks!
