I saw that last year someone who went complete as late as Dec 12 got accepted on the first wave. So there's a chance I think?

Is an interview required to get a named scholarship at Columbia? I know they still accept people without an interview, but for Hamilton/Butler... do they interview all potential candidates?

I don't know whether they interview all candidates, but they certainly seem to interview for that purpose. Given my stats, tone of the interview, and that the interviewer mentioned merit scholarships several times unprompted, I'm pretty sure my interview couldn't have been for any other purpose.dollarez wrote:Is an interview required to get a named scholarship at Columbia? Edit: (meant to add) and it would be very weird for them to do interviews for some but not others when talking about such a huge sum of money and such a small # of scholarships.

Any other non-interviewers hoping to be included in this coming wave? I'm wondering if I should get my hopes up at all and keep track (172/S) because I'm so used to receiving some sort of good sign (interview, UR2 etc) prior to a decision. I also feel as an international (born + educated abroad) that they would want to interview me as I'm not as conventional a candidate as others.

Right. Does that mean no interview = no chance for Hamilton/Butler? I guess so?cheeseras wrote:I don't know whether they interview all candidates, but they certainly seem to interview for that purpose. EDIT: Ok, I guess it is. Well an acceptance alone would make my day nonetheless. Hoping for a wave today!

Re: Columbia c/o 2021 Applicants Thread (2017-2018)
Sorry, see my edit above, I didn't finish my thought -- I think it would be very odd of them to interview only some of the candidates, presumably for that quantity of money it's a pretty essential screen. But I doubt anybody knows for sure unless there's a former Columbia admissions person who works at Spivey or something like that.dollarez wrote: Right.
