I already emailed them and they said that I'm still an ED candidate. I won't be able to turn in my grades until Christmas Eve or so but I imagine I'll hear back within the first week of January.GeriZ wrote:I am actually thinking about the ED contract. I think it's promising a result by December? Hopefully they won't just give out a defer...mwells56 wrote:I'm in the same boat. Way I'm looking at it, they've haven't dinged me yet and are probably looking for a reason to admit me. No interview request though, which concerns me a little. I'm ED, 3.74/168, non-URM, K-JD.GeriZ wrote:I applied early decision and just got asked for fall grades. Is that a good sign or bad one? I will be really grateful if anyone can explain this to me.

Just finished my interview yesterday! It was a bit awkward and I feel like I bombed, but I'm gathering that this is a common sentiment among most interviewees, so I will not think about it any further.

Unless you have an incredibly good reason (like, an "I will be fired" good reason), do the professional letter. They just want to make sure that you're actually good at being an employee as well as a student, because those are two different skills.albinododobird wrote:I learned just today that Columbia asks for a professional letter of recommendation if you've been out of school for more than a year, but that you can write an addendum if you cannot provide a professional letter of recommendation. Did anyone go the addendum route? I strongly prefer my academic recommendations, but I can produce a professional one if I need to.

I also got the interview invite on Wednesday. Hopefully I don’t have the panic-inducing technical issues that kicked off my HLS interview...

I went the addendum route. Told them truthfully that my current employer doesn't know that I'm going to law school and I don't plan on telling them any time soon, out of fear for my job/promotions/etc.albinododobird wrote:I learned just today that Columbia asks for a professional letter of recommendation if you've been out of school for more than a year, but that you can write an addendum if you cannot provide a professional letter of recommendation. Checking in. The budget opened up a little, so I'll see if they have room for a super splitter. My odds may be poor, but it's worth the shot.

I just got paranoid about the application and realized I didn't submit the professional letter of recommendation addendum. Should I just email it to admissions, or would faxing be better?

Re: Columbia c/o 2021 Applicants Thread (2017-2018)
Anyone having issues with their status checker? It says my info doesn't match what's on file so I can't log on. When I email admissions, they just sent back a message saying I was complete and didn't really answer the question...
I guess it's just one less thing to check obsessively.
