Just to clarify: getting an interview request from CLS means you're either eligible for a merit-based scholarship or you're not doing too well?

I thought it was like getting JS1 from Harvard where only the best applicants receive interviews, but from reading this thread it seems like CLS gives interviews to only the very best (hammy, etc.) or the borderline bad cases. Please correct me if i'm wrong

With Harvard, a JS1 is required in order to be granted admission, but with Columbia, you can certainly be admitted without any sort of interview.

Yes that makes sense. But then this goes back to my initial question: what type of applicant gets an interview request? Someone said that only the extremes (scholarship eligible and borderline cases) get them. Is this true?

The type of applicant where they want more information and think an interview can provide that information.

Intuitively, that category would be dominated by people in two groups: those who are Hamilton candidates on paper and those who are marginal admits on paper. But it's easy to imagine scenarios where they might want to interview someone with probable-admit-but-not-huge-scholarship numbers.

Did anybody else feel like their interview was very informal? Mine almost didn't feel like I was being interviewed. I'm not sure if that's good or bad or if I'm just overthinking it.

Applied. Easily my biggest reach. The ultimate dream school for me. Would attend over a full ride to a two top-70 schools I currently have.

Did anyone else think it's kind of mean for them to say "Good luck in the admissions process, and we hope to welcome you here as a member of the Class of 2021!", in their "application complete" emails?
Like, if you really hope to welcome me, than accept me Columbia, it's not that hard!

Also does anyone know when I should expect to hear back from them now?

I did my interview last week and it felt like it wasn't an interview. More like a sales pitch on their part. Felt kind of weird about it tbh.

Mine definitely felt more interview-y (although they were super nice). I think it's probably because I'm a borderline candidate lsatwise... It definitely went by super fast

Same here. Had my interview today. I’m defintely a border applicant (and that’s being generous). I think these interviews are just to see if you’re like a real person and not a robot, since it seems like they don’t delve that intimately. Was really informal, asked why Columbia, about my work experience, time studying abroad, and my career goals. Felt like I had so much more to say about why Columbia but it felt rushed, like I had to give quick answers that weren’t multi-faceted. Was very conversational but I ultimately feel less confident because I felt like I had so much more to say and didn’t... but hey, here’s to praying. Good luck everyone!

Same, can I ask your stats? I don't have high enough stats for a named scholarship, just out my reach by a bit. However, I really didn't think I was a marginal candidate....I wonder if it's because of my first LSAT score.

GPA > 75th
25th < LSAT < Median < 75th

I also don't think at all that I am in contention for a named scholarship (though it would be a very unexpected surprise)
Hbu?

I heard there was a hard LSAT floor on them, and I don't meet it. Plus looking at last year's stats, mine don't get the named schollys...(wait, I'm assuming they are full rides? I could be wrong.)

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
