Today seems to have confirmed that the Columbia adcomms are not actually lying to us - regardless of the discussions in this thread otherwise! A few people in this wave did not interview and were accepted and probably off getting hammered in excitement (or eating ice cream per r/lawschooladmissions). Don't fret!jkander31 wrote:so just for the neurotic people (ahem, me): Columbia interviews are random and you can get in without having one, right?

Also double disappointment for me with nothing from Chicago and nothing from Columbia

Re: Columbia c/o 2021 Applicants Thread (2017-2018)
Speculation, not insight, but I imagine that if Columbia really is going to accept a handful of students every day/every couple days from now over the next month or so, they probably have a few people actively making decisions while other decisions are going out. After a decision is made, there's probably some processing that has to be done to get the student into the system, maybe a final check, that kinda thing, and that probably takes a day or so.lawschoolthrowaway wrote:Any speculation/insights on the below question:
If Columbia is doing a wave tomorrow (fair assumption based on past years), do we think that list of accepted individuals is already decided on? If so, why wait to email them tomorrow? I lean towards this list already being decided on because I can’t imagine this list is made over the next ~24 hours.
So yeah, I bet if they do a wave tomorrow, they probably have the list of accepted individuals decided on right now, but maybe they just came to those final decisions early this morning or yesterday, and today is the day those decisions are being finally processed? Otherwise, you're right, there'd be no reason I can think of for them to wait till tomorrow.

International as well, didn't interview. 173 and got in, no prior communication until now! Good luck.EnglishApplicant2017 wrote:Any other non-interviewers hoping to be included in this coming wave? I'm wondering if I should get my hopes up at all and keep track (172/S) because I'm so used to receiving some sort of good sign (interview, UR2 etc) prior to a decision. I also feel as an international (born + educated abroad) that they would want to interview me as I'm not as conventional a candidate as others.

So will those who got in today get scholarship info in a couple of weeks or will it just be people in the next couple of waves?MonicaYoung_LOL wrote:Based on last year's thread, it looks like the first wave of folks didn't include scholarship info, then the next two waves (which were the following days I believe, but not sure how that'll shape up with the delay this year) included scholarships.TheMule wrote:Should we expect all emails to come out at once or will they come in waves?

Re: Columbia c/o 2021 Applicants Thread (2017-2018)
It looks like those who get in in the first wave generally don't get named scholarships (e.g., Hamiltons and Butlers) but it's possible (likely, even?) that they'll get some $$. Hamiltons & Butlers came in emails last year in the following wave(s).naguib wrote:So will those who got in today get scholarship info in a couple of weeks or will it just be people in the next couple of waves?MonicaYoung_LOL wrote:Based on last year's thread, it looks like the first wave of folks didn't include scholarship info, then the next two waves (which were the following days I believe, but not sure how that'll shape up with the delay this year) included scholarships.TheMule wrote:Should we expect all emails to come out at once or will they come in waves?
EDIT: If you don't hear tomorrow and are worried re: Hamilton & Butlers, don't be! They can come in a series of waves (not just the second one!), and that's happened for at least the past two years.
And again, CONGRATULATIONS to all those who were accepted today!!! It is an amazing accomplishment, and you should all be extraordinarily proud!

So will the next couple of waves consist only of those who get named scholarships, or a mix of scholarships and no scholarships?

Re: Columbia c/o 2021 Applicants Thread (2017-2018)
It looks like the second wave last year was exclusively named scholarships and took place on the Thursday of that same week. The third wave started around noon on that Friday with additional named scholarships, but later on in the day, it was no scholarships. So it's not totally clear what'll happen. It looks like in years past, letters were time stamped & staggered at different times. Not that that makes the waiting game any more fun or pleasant...wolfdog wrote:So will the next couple of waves consist only of those who get named scholarships, or a mix of scholarships and no scholarships?

Wouldn't that be beautiful? Wave of Butlers and Hamiltons? I almost wouldn't even care that I wasn't on it. In it. Whatever.principalagent wrote:Yesterday's wave started about this time.

I think it happened closer to 2pm EST yesterday, so we’ve got about an hour by that measure.

Agh, I'm in EST for work, but my TLS is still on CST (for home), so that threw me off.andysimbi wrote:I think it happened closer to 2pm EST yesterday, so we’ve got about an hour by that measure.

What are the chances that those of us who didn't interview will hear from CLS today?
