Just echoing what’s been said, had an off-campus interview today and definitely sold me on Northwestern more. It sounds pretty great!!

Hey guys, for the ED certification, can we scan a physically signed copy and email the PDF to them? I did this on Wednesday (suggested deadline for ED) and they've yet to respond or check off the ED cert box on the status checker.

I think you will be fine, and you may want to email them letting them know that your ED box hasn't checked off.ksmaster123 wrote:Hey guys, for the ED certification, can we scan a physically signed copy and email the PDF to them? So jealous of the people who had a great interview that got them pumped for Northwestern! I think the interviewer liked me just fine (we spoke for more than an hour and really connected about a lot of stuff like our shared volunteer interests and whatnot), but when it came to actually talking about schools and I asked her what she loved most about Northwestern and if she’s happy she went there, she literally said, “Well at the time that was the school I could get in to, but I mean I was able to get a good job after” She also talked more about a particular Ivy (HYPS) that all her kids attend than Northwestern. I feel like I learned more about student culture at that Ivy than Northwestern!thepsychedelic wrote:Just echoing what’s been said, had an off-campus interview today and definitely sold me on Northwestern more. I still love Northwestern though !!! All the positives I’ve learned from my own research can’t be brought down by that!

So, what’s the thinking on timing for decisions for RD applicants? Not until January at least?

The year I applied, there was a decently large wave in mid-to-late December (pre-Christmas).Bush v. Gorgeous wrote:Man, I hope not! One of my very top choices....Walliums wrote:So, what’s the thinking on timing for decisions for RD applicants? Not until January at least?

ED Question:
I applied ED as a hail Mary with a poor LSAT, slightly above median GPA. I highly doubt I'll be getting ED based on that LSAT. I'm retaking in December and am expecting a good result (one that would probably get me in as a URM).
At the time I wasn't really thinking about this but, if my December LSAT comes back with a good score, they can't base their ED decision off of that correct? Because the score won't be available until after December (when they say they get back for ED), right? Just making sure I wouldn't be locked into Northwestern based off my December LSAT. (sorry if this is confusing)

It's on their website that the last LSAT accepted for ED is Sept/Oct. So, no.jjdude14 wrote:ED Question:

Being in an acceptance wave in December would be the best Christmas present ever!MT Cicero wrote:The year I applied, there was a decently large wave in mid-to-late December (pre-Christmas).Bush v. Yep, that was me. Got in the day I had family coming in to visit (19 December), but that was back in 2013. Not sure if they've kept up the practice in more recent years.Walliums wrote:Being in an acceptance wave in December would be the best Christmas present ever!MT Cicero wrote:The year I applied, there was a decently large wave in mid-to-late December (pre-Christmas).Bush v. Anyone else opt for the on-campus alumni interview? I just completed mine this weekend and it went exceedingly well.
I'm slightly paranoid that alumni interviews won't carry as much weight as adcomm interviews. Anyone care to confirm/dis-confirm?

I did the Black Students Initiative interview and really enjoyed it! I clicked quite well with my interviewer. If you get invited, I would highly recommend doing that interview process.

I signed up for my interview the same day I got an email from the Black Students Initiative email, so I didn't end up signing up with them. Kind of wish I did.principalagent wrote:I did the Black Students Initiative interview and really enjoyed it! I clicked quite well with my interviewer. Weird question:
Would it look bad to email admissions asking if your application could be moved from the RD cycle to the ED cycle? I know the deadline is Dec. 1. I went complete in early October and interviewed in October. Would this be completely out of bounds to ask to change?

True. I was just wondering if it would be considered odd that I changed my mind 1.5 months after submitting my app.profdogwalker wrote:I think that would look good since you would be 100% committing to them...ghostlyyy wrote:Weird question:

Does the admissions office answer emails promptly? Been trying to reach them, but they haven't sent a reply.

Re: Northwestern c/o 2021 Applicants (2017-2018 cycle)
Has anyone had to change from an on-campus to an off-campus interview?
Just learned that I might not be able to make my on-campus interview scheduled for Dec. 2. due to important business. As of now there are no other dates available. It would be way more convenient for me to have an off-campus interview anyways. But I already submitted my application and indicated that I will be interviewing on-campus.
So I guess the best way to go about it would be to just email them and ask for an off-campus interview?
