I did as well, interviewed later than you though so I'm probably not going to hear back until late next month. Northwestern is my #1 choice but I know I'll be on the razor's edge.latinxlawschool2020 wrote:I also applied RD..good luck !:DHankScorpion wrote:Congrats! Re: Northwestern c/o 2021 Applicants (2017-2018 cycle)
I found out they gave me a CRS waiver already (didn't have an LSAT score until yesterday) when I opened the app this morning, so I went ahead and finished my PS and applied. It might be a bit of a reach since I'm just above the median LSAT and below the 25th on GPA, but what the hell. I'll probably bomb the interview though, especially since I'm probably doing an online one.

Is it appropriate to write a LOCI when held from ED? Or are those just for the waitlist? I know the hold letter said something along the lines of "feel free to send updates, letters of continued interest..."

Not well-versed in this field, but I can't imagine that it would detriment you to do that--if anything, it would probably benefit your app since they know you really want Northwestern. That said, I'm not sure how much it would matter? Again, not totally familiar with the process, so you may want to take what I say with a grain of salt.ChiCityLove wrote:Is it appropriate to write a LOCI when held from ED? Re: Northwestern c/o 2021 Applicants (2017-2018 cycle)
I wrote one and sent it the day after I was placed on hold. Based on the letter they send to us, I think they are expecting a LOCI at this point because they clearly mentioned it in the letter. I don't know how much it would help, but I sent one. BTW I haven't received any reply from them yet. I think you could draft and send it to them even if the help is trivial (at least it helps).ChiCityLove wrote:Is it appropriate to write a LOCI when held from ED? Or are those just for the waitlist? So my plans changed and I had to retake December, and obviously didn't get a score back before the Dec 15th deadline of my fee waiver. What are the odds I can solicit one? I'd like to visit the campus in late January and meet with admissions. Do I wait til then to ask or send an email about both of these items?

Am also curious about this. My scores are below median so I doubt I can solicit a waiver and I might just bite the bullet and pay it.Eleven wrote:So my plans changed and I had to retake December, and obviously didn't get a score back before the Dec 15th deadline of my fee waiver. Re: Northwestern c/o 2021 Applicants (2017-2018 cycle)
I guess I would go the email route beforehand and if they say no to the waiver, you could ask again at your campus visit (as long as it's a different person). I think saying that you want to visit and explaining the delay in your submission (LSAT retake) could only encourage their decision to potentially give you a waiver? But obviously, I'm just a 0L so take that with a grain of salt.AvatarMeelo wrote:Am also curious about this. They tend to take quite a while to respond to emails. I imagine that the delay is even worse now that it's holiday season. They'll likely get back to you soon, though!xinaialice wrote:I sent an email with LOCI on Dec 19th but haven't heard back... Anyone knows whether they reply our emails?

my status checker says 'interview requested', am I supposed to be getting an email or something soon regarding this?

Did you indicate on your app that you wanted to interview? I think if you want to do an off-campus interview or online interview you have to request those through the admissions website. On-campus is also scheduled online. They will not review your app until your interview is complete if you indicated you were planning to interview on the application.Mikey wrote:my status checker says 'interview requested', am I supposed to be getting an email or something soon regarding this?

Does anyone know when your status checker is supposed to "reset" for ED applicants who were held. Mine has been stuck on DLA since 12/13.

Looked through last years page and it didn't say, but looks like the RD waves post-holiday were as follows. Most ED holds who were admitted didn't hear until the second post-holiday waveCogburn1984 wrote:Does anyone know when your status checker is supposed to "reset" for ED applicants who were held. 2013-2014 cycle: first post-holiday decision waves were 1/15 and 1/22
2014-2015 cycle: first post-holiday decision waves were 1/6 and 1/14
2015-2016 cycle: first post-holiday decision waves were 1/13 and 1/19
2016-2017 cycle: first post-holiday decision waves were 1/19 and 1/31
Fingers crossed!

"We've all been wrongly blamed for a mistake - how did you handle the situation?", "Imagine your colleague had a bad day, what would you say to her?"; also a generic "what is one thing you want the committee to know about your candidacy?".Mikey wrote:can anyone give me some advice on the kinds of questions asked during the online video interview besides the generic why law? and why NU?

In general I thought it wasn't too bad, just a bunch of questions that you could answer without too much thinking. The extra 30s or so helped too.

Re: Northwestern c/o 2021 Applicants (2017-2018 cycle)
Considering how much I suck at interviews, the online interview went okay. I only stumbled a bit on one question and the "Why Northwestern?" kind of went on a tangent of how great Chicago is, but I think I did well. I know for a fact I would have been terrified if it was in person, though.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
