Applied ED and got held.

Still no interview up to this point. Should I just assume I'm being dinged?

Stats would suggest this outcome anyway.

Yes, they e-mail it to you. The subject is: "Invitation to Georgetown Law Alumni Interview" or "Invitation to Georgetown Law Group Interview". I don't think they call you, or at least I haven't read of anyone who has been called to receive an invitation to interview.

Mine was "Georgetown Law Group Interview Invitation – Washington, DC"
Thanks

What’s the format of the group interview - I’m just curious. I just imagine everyone sitting in a circle and it being super weird. Like how do you group interview people?
It was actually SO fun. It's...12 people I think? With the dean. You split into small groups and basically discuss admissions scenarios, and then report back to the group. I think he's just observing your willingness to speak up in group but also (very importantly) listen to your teammates and be able to reiterate their opinions. Sense of humor, willingness to jump in and have fun. My group of 12 was so great. Everyone came ready to play and we all enjoyed it.
So you pay 100s of dollars for a flight just to play some fake admissions game? lol

So I'm in DC and went to one in DC. I believe they maybe did some in other cities too? But I'm not sure if they invite people knowing it would involve travel? Agreed that that seems a tough sell. I would assume they only invite you if you are local to wherever THEY have traveled to do the interview (or DC).

Maybe it's more accurate to say that the stats are not good enough to be auto-admit, but I think I saw someone with a 176/4.0 who took an interview (maybe that was for YP). Long story short, I'm not sure any of these explanations for interviews are any more than speculation.
I think it's pretty clear that all of this is speculation and I don't know that there can be a consistent pattern. Obviously, some people will have to do alumni interviews regardless of their stats based on location; there are only so many places where you can get a group of 10-12 compelling applicants who submitted around the same time. Even in major cities, if you apply after they've already done a few group sessions, they might not be able to scrap together another one.

I'd be surprised if anyone from my group interview didn't get in just based on the caliber of the discussion. So I think there is a chance that they have some just for the purpose of ensuring that no one is an obvious psychopath and that people match the way they come off in their applications. Others might be a compilation of more borderline people. And some might just be the pool that they have in a given city.
Or maybe a 176, 4.0 is all the candidate had.. I mean come on: you can't just merely go off numbers. If it was a numbers game, I would not have gotten in

with regards to alumni/group interview distinction, I highly doubt there is much of a difference because I was invited to do both -- a group interview a few weeks after going complete, had to turn down because out of country, then got an alumni interview request like a month/month and a half later

¯\_(ツ)_/¯ my advice is chill ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Will that adversely affect my chances? I feel like they'll think I'm blowing them off or "not interested enough", but I truly can't attend due to work, especially when they only give a week's notice before the interviews. Anyone else have to decline twice in a row?
I declined two (technically three - one was in September before I even applied) also due to work conflicts. I finally just emailed them earlier this week asking that they go ahead and review my app without an interview (while also saying nice things about Georgetown and expressing my interest etc...). I've gotten into some pretty good schools so I felt it was a risk I was willing to take, but I have heard of more than a handful of people getting in without interviewing.
That's super helpful. Thank you! And good luck!

Complete 11/20. Put on Preferred Waitlist today @ 5pm. GPA above 75th and 25<LSAT<50. Ivy league undergrad. Is WL so early on hopeless? Seems like they still have tons of apps but I'm already pushed aside.

Asking if you apply ED, does acceptance come in mail or email? Same with rejection, mail or email?

This, I am pretty sure. They specifically mentioned they were reaching out to applicants with ties to the New York area in my invitation. I would imagine one of the real meanings of the group interview is that you live in an area where they are doing group interviews.

Does anyone see the "Your Credentials" link in the right column of the admitted students website that the financial aid website claims you must select to sign up for financial aid? I am looking on the admitted students website and see no such link lol.

Curious if anyone here who has been accepted thus far didn't get a fee waiver for their app? I'm sort of puzzled as to why I wasn't offered one. I sent a polite email request for one and never got a response (nor did they waive). 3.98 GPA from top 25 undergrad // 170 LSAT. Is this a bad sign that they just don't like me? I'm very interested in Gtown

Getting a fee waiver doesn't really mean anything about your admissions chances.

I was accepted and didn't receive a merit-based fee waiver - I agree, I don't think it means anything about your admissions chances.

Do they do interviews for people who live more than an hour from a major market? I'm 2+ hours to Philly or DC. A little over an hour to Baltimore
