Just got an email saying that I was placed on a waiting list. It also mentioned they carry a preferred waitlist, and that I should go with god and enroll elsewhere.

When did you submit/did you interview?

10/18. I did not interview. I'm also west coast based, if helpful

TBH I am completely shocked by this. I applied two years ago with a 3.21/169 and was accepted within 2 weeks. Now I apply with a 171 and it lands me on the waitlist. Utterly baffled

I was RD held as well. Applied September, interviewed October, got the Held message late November. No communication since. Not expecting too much until early February since I would guess they’re tossing us back in with the December lsat takers who are just now applying.

I hate using this phrase because I hear it SO OFTEN, but maybe the Trump Bump is real. I'm sorry, though. This process is absolutely baffling.

I think it's probably more the general health of the economy more than whatever "Trump Bump" exists.

Honestly, I wasn't really interested in Georgetown without at least $$$, which they seem reluctant to give (least of all to splitters). Just very confusing and unsure how well it bodes for the rest of the cycle. I've had very little doubts about my decision to sit out and retake until now.

LSN data from last year shows a bunch of 171+ applicants being waitlisted, likely as yield protection. I just got preferred WL as a splitter too.

Has anyone who interviewed 12/18 or later heard back yet? Cornblatt said we'd hear within 2-3 weeks (with a twinkle in his eye) but I could've been hallucinating

I was 12/18 and I heard back-- snail mail.

I was also 12/18 but have heard nothing. If past iterations are any indication, looks like we might be looking at a waitlist...ChiCityLove are you able to log into the ASW?

Just got preferred waitlisted, not really sure what it means and whether I should still hope for admittance or any money. Anybody able to explain and shed some light? Also should I send any further things, like fall grades and/or letter about continued interest? Maybe additional LORs? I'm actually still pretty interested in Georgetown soooo... Sorry I don't know much about the process beyond basic things, it would be much appreciated to hear anything further on this!

I just tried the "forgotten password" at ASW. They sent me a username and password and I could log in now. Does that mean I'm in? I haven't received any mail notification yet.

Anyone know if they're putting together a "special preferred waitlist" this year? The "preferred waitlist" email mentions the existence of the "waitlist," but I've heard that they've also had an SPWL in the past that's been more of a secret.

No, you'll be reviewed again before they move to waitlisted folks. A hold is kind of its own thing.

Fair. Who really knows what's going on in these admissions offices anyways.

If the "preferred waitlist" is legitimately more 'preferred' than the regular waitlist, hopefully they'd let you in if you sent a particularly glowing LOCI or something. Either way though, that is a huge and very confusing bummer

Cycles for splitters can be weird, maybe they didn’t need your number combination as badly this time around, or like someone else said could be YP since you previously were admitted and didn’t attend. Given that you’ve gotten in before you probably have a decent chance of getting off the waitlist if you continue to show interest.
