I have no clue why I did. I am a good writer but my numbers are laughable for UVA. I can't help but want to do everything I can to get in, but even if I did I can't imagine getting money, which will make it a hard sell against my other offers. And on top of that, I really don't think I can get in. Are you close to D.C.? It could be location based, because I live right outside the city.
My numbers are also laughable for UVA but my personal statement turned out better than I thought it would. So pretty much the same situation. I am not near D.C. but I am near Boston and NYC and I'm fairly certain that they did recent interviews in those cities. I wasn't invited to those.
I am totally rooting for you - they'd be lucky to have you. 'Tis early days....

Has anyone been to one? And, is this a good sign? I know it can't be compared to the dinners, but I would need to take some time off work to attend so I am trying to assess if it will be worth spending the political capital.
I feel like if they invited you to this, it would reflect poorly if you didn't go.
I'm not sure it would reflect poorly. The admissions team are all super nice in my experience and very understanding that applicants have their own schedules. (If I recall, someone further back in this thread couldn't make a dinner and made plans to meet the morning after.)

That said, if you want to go to UVA, and you can possibly make it, you should absolutely go.
I got the invite too but have already been accepted. Is it still worth going?

Congrats! Really up to you at that point then. I'd go personally as I know UVA is going to be among my personal top 3 choices and I'd take up any chance to get to know more.

Thanks! Yeah I'll probably go. I just wasn't sure if it caters more to people intending to apply or those in the process.

So this is something that I was wondering about - how many people that were invited have already been admitted? I noted that it's not referred to as an admissions event per se, but as a UVA Law Reception. What are the chances I'm admitted before the event? The invitation coincided with me going UR2. Am I reading too much in the tea leaves here?

My date changed yesterday too. I kind of assumed this would be like my 'interview' where I need to bring my A game and talk people up. But I kind of prefer your interpretation.

Checking in! // The fact that the event has a password makes me want to believe that it's for people they want to try and meet. I got accepted during my interview (Dean Faulk is awesome!) about 4 hours after receiving the invite to the mixer.

Seems like a lot of people here already have scholarships, though I got a letter saying they won't evaluate til February. Probably a sign we won't get much/anything if we don't hear until then?

My guess is that a lot of these Dillard's are going to be given up for HYS. The leftovers will go to other applicants in February or later.
I think they are just like most schools where they give big $$ up front for a few and everyone else gets to negotiate in the Spring.

Kinda what I figured, makes sense. I definitely don't have big money numbers

Is it just me or are there a lot more informal interviews (dinners, etc) than traditional interviews this year than there was in the past?

Just from what we have here, there seems to be no significant difference between ur1/2/3. Someone was even accepted after never going past ur1. I guess the only takeaway is that you know that someone has at least looked at your app.
