Re: UVA c/o 2021 Applicants (2017-2018)
Does anyone know what the turnaround on a decision is after getting an interview? I've heard people say they've gotten admitted on the phone, several days later, a few weeks later. I am looking for an average time or something of that nature.

I haven't seen many folks on here wait more than a week. I went to an event on a Monday that essentially served as an interview and was admitted the following Monday.jkander31 wrote:Does anyone know what the turnaround on a decision is after getting an interview? No idea what the average is, but I got in via status checker the next day. I think what happens is, the next time the admissions team meets after your interview is when they decide for final approval. Not sure what that mean about people who are admitted during the interview... maybe they were already accepted but the interview is to acertain scholarship-worthynessjkander31 wrote:Does anyone know what the turnaround on a decision is after getting an interview? Dean Faulk has to approve every admit, so he does that on the phone for his calls. The other admissions staff have to meet with him and report before those applicants can be admitted.letmelearnlaws wrote:No idea what the average is, but I got in via status checker the next day. In at UVA Law via status checker on 1/16.
Complete 10/31/17, never received a UCR notification. I received an informal email last week from Ashley, the new Director of Admissions, asking to me to converse (I thought I was in trouble).

Mine isn’t quite so bad; I’ve been UR sine 11/27. But I’ve had 100% radio silence from UVA since thenNtp73821 wrote:Today is my 3 month "under review" anniversary. lol

So is the consensus that if we didn't submit a "Why UVA" as part of the initial application, we can email them one at any time?

Yeah, you can definitely do it. I emailed them one shortly after I applied. Granted, I still haven't heard back yet (bordering on 3 months UR1 as well), but it might be worth a shot if you want to!ChutzpahSaxa15 wrote:So is the consensus that if we didn't submit a "Why UVA" as part of the initial application, we can email them one at any time?

I applied ED over the holidays as well and am still waiting to hear back. I went UR1 on 1/3, UR2 on 1/9, nothing since. Considering how large the cycle is apparently, I wouldn't be surprised to have to wait until the 23rd, which would be the full 15 business days, for a decision to be made.ThisIsMe86 wrote:Checking in! Re: UVA c/o 2021 Applicants (2017-2018)
Just wanted to share my experience in case it helps anyone: Don't remember any UR1 to UR2 updates but was emailed on Jan 4th to discuss my application. Then set up the skype interview for the 11th. The interview was literally: 1) Why UVA? 2) A belief you used to hold but no longer hold to be true anymore. 3) Three words friends would use to describe you in a positive manner and then negative manner. 4) Any questions I had for him. He then prompted me to ask him about the rest of the admissions process at which point he told me I was in. The whole thing lasted about 20 minutes and like others have mentioned on here before, Dean Faulk is SO damn chill. He literally makes it effortless and as least nerve wrecking as possible.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
