Just went UR2 today. Had my interview and didn't get a phone call. Status checker changed later in the day so I'm also not surprised.

To those who've gotten scholarships already, first off congrats! I was wondering though, did you guys submit your fafsa before getting these scholarships or did they just give them to you?

I did not submit my Fasfa beforehand, it was just in my acceptance letter that arrived in the mail but I am going to submit my Fasfa once it's done.

fafsa isn't necessary to receive a (merit) scholarship from uva

I also religiously check the forums and anxiously reference myself to others, but I have learned to calm down. It is December 12th. There is still 4 months to this cycle. Take it easy on yourself.

I am definitely being ghosted by UVA and Duke. Submitted fist day of apps, wrote why essays (apparently not very good ones), zilch

For those who had interviews: do you think who your interviewer is was an indication of where you stand? Like I know the Dean usually tells you that you’re in, so if it’s someone else, that means you are less of a shoe in?

Nah. The other interviewers can't admit you at the end of the call because the final decision still has to be run by the dean, but being assigned to someone else doesn't mean you have less of a chance. The dean just can't interview everyone.

Totally random looks like. Some people get it up front, some in January/Feb. You have a bit of a split numbers wise so somewhat unpredictable.

Possible, sure yeah. A solid chunk of folks get something in their initial package. You are a splitter tho so unpredictable. Negotiable? Not yet. IIRC UVA doesn't start their merit scholarship process until after January for those who don't find out in their initial package. So I don't think they'd be open to negotiating just yet. I also recall last year folks were having trouble getting them to budge beyond initial offers.
