Checking in! Feeling like this is a long shot - don't think my LSAT went well so think I'll be a splitter (GPA 3.95). Do splitters ever get cash? Doubtful...

Hi -

Quick question! I got an email from NYU saying that they have basically receipted my initial application and that I can start monitoring my status for completeness etc. When I go to the status checker, I put in the the given ID and Password and it takes me to a page to create a new password and whatnot. The issue is, after I fill out the fields, my only options are reset and return to login. I'm stuck. I can't seem to create an account or move past this page. When I click reset, it tells me my password has to at least 7 characters, which it is.. and then it resets the fields. Anyone else having this issue? I feel like I'm missing something.

FYI, If anyone is wondering about fee waivers, I received one. Not sure if they happen all at once or not.

Maybe try a different password combo?

I use the original password they send, then add a letter at the end and it works fine.

If you've gotten the application check email from any other school, it works exactly the same way as (most) of those.

That must have been it, did the same thing as you and it worked. Thank you!

Hey all, needing a bit of advice.
In my rush to get everything submitted, I did not even consider writing a Why NYU. I hadn't read the forums much and didn't know people really did Why X without being required by the application. However, NYU is truly my first choice and a slight reach with my numbers. Can I still submit one, and how would I go about that? Just email it to their admissions?
Thanks in advance

Since NYU is a T6, general wisdom is not to write a Why X essay as they know they're a top choice for many people. If you have a really compelling reason you want to be in NYC or at NYU specifically I think you could email it to admissions, but if it's not super unique, I wouldn't worry about submitting one.

Good luck!
Okay, thanks! I have heard that about H/Y/S but didn't know if it applied to Top 6 as a whole.

Hi folks!

I am a first-generation college student, should I specify that in the application point "7.Underrepresented group" ? I'm asking that because I'd normally say yes, but in the next step (8) they directly ask if you're one. At this point, I'd say no. Should I say yes and submit my first-gen statement as a "Underrepresented group" attachment, or should I say no and send it as an "additional information" attachment?

Sigh... probably going to get dinged but going to apply anyway. Did that NYU webinar just now and learned some stuff: 1) submit that LSAT addendum if you have multiple scores otherwise they’re going to average and 2) if you have a reportable score, your application is complete and it’s at their discretion to count any future scores.

Can someone who already applied explain the whole sent vs complete thing?
