Even former adcomms with 15+ years admissions experience can't accurately predict admissions timelines. No one here can tell when you/they'll be accepted. I've seen 180/3.9 candidates still waiting for decisions recently.fohner wrote:I've been UR1 since 12/5 and didn't get any weird emails. Any speculation as to why people have gotten decisions while under review for less time than me? My stats make me a good applicant to NYU. Is there just some randomness for the timing of their decisions or should I take it as a bad sign?

I mean, the deadline to be given access to your W2 in January 31 I think? And most businesses give them out well beforehand (for example, I have mine from two different companies already).rachelac wrote:It requires 2017 tax info though so we're going to have to wait ughrideagain wrote:FYI appears financial aid application is available...

I work in public education so they wait until the last possible moment to do anything Plus it looks like you have to have already filed to fill it out, especially if you aren't taking standard deductions, so I kind of have to wait til my mom gets done with her taxes. Not the end of the world, just a pain. Maybe I should've just said I'M going to have to wait haha

Lol, I'm waiting too... and my companies haven't given me my W-2 yet, which sucks, because I want that tax refund $$$

I think you can get the ball rolling with a merit-only application in the meantime.rachelac wrote:nonquoteJamesBlahDeBlah wrote:I mean, the deadline to be given access to your W2 in January 31 I think? This is my husband too (special ed teacher), and we file jointly. Mine has been available for a week. Come on public ed bureaucracy!rachelac wrote:-pls don't quote-JamesBlahDeBlah wrote:I mean, the deadline to be given access to your W2 in January 31 I think? do we think it's a bad idea to submit the merit-only app or inquire about that? i know i'll get next to nothing if anything in financial aid/wouldn't attend at sticker. probably overthinking this but i don't know if that gives off the wrong vibe

Another financial aid app question... It asks about other schools. Do we actually fill that out lol (I know most people didn't in the initial app but I feel like scholarships are a different story). If yes, do we also include scholly info?

I definitely have not - I hope sending it so close to the deadline didn't affect me so much.sarcasterix wrote:Has anyone on here who applied for RTK or other scholarships and went UR1 between the end of December and early January gone UR2 yet?

Same. I'm guessing there were a lot of us that did it right near the new year though. It looks like last year there was a wave that went UR2 1/10 and accepted 1/24 and then another accepted wave 1/31 and then ding waves 2/3 and 2/10 (where people went UR2 1/17 and 1/20). I'm just hoping that the fact I haven't gone UR2 yet doesn't preclude me from next few acceptance waves! Although, apparently you don't need to go UR2 to get accepted (I've just seen that mentioned but not actual proof of that).AvatarMeelo wrote:I definitely have not - I hope sending it so close to the deadline didn't affect me so much.sarcasterix wrote:Has anyone on here who applied for RTK or other scholarships and went UR1 between the end of December and early January gone UR2 yet?

To all admits/peeps who may actually attend NYU, how are you planning on dealing with housing? On-campus or off-campus? Commuting?

Re: NYU c/o 2021 Applicants (2017-2018 cycle)
I'm leaning toward on-campus right now but a ton is dependent on financial aid (if I get a good scholarship I'll be less worried about COL) and which of my college friends are in NYC at the time. Wouldn't want to live with a random non-NYU roommate nor could I afford to live alone.missmiabuttface wrote:To all admits/peeps who may actually attend NYU, how are you planning on dealing with housing? Okay, I live in NYC, so here is my two cents:rachelac wrote:I'm leaning toward on-campus right now but a ton is dependent on financial aid (if I get a good scholarship I'll be less worried about COL) and which of my college friends are in NYC at the time. NYU housing is ABSURDLY over-priced. It's (maybe) below market for Greenwich Village, but you can find far, far cheaper within commuting distance. Also, finding roommates who aren't sketchy is actually not that difficult - I've roommate hunted twice, and have a long list of apps that I used. But seriously - you can easily save 1k a month by just apartment hunting and not taking the NYU housing. (I have a friend in the law school that lives in the housing, and it is also V small and not that nice tbh)

wow I appreciate this and you so much! I'll definitely wait to decide til after ASW and talk to more of my friends who have lived in New York. I really don't have a handle on it at all tbh; I've spent most of my life in medium-sized cities and NYC really overwhelms metinycatfriend wrote:Okay, I live in NYC, so here is my two cents:rachelac wrote:I'm leaning toward on-campus right now but a ton is dependent on financial aid (if I get a good scholarship I'll be less worried about COL) and which of my college friends are in NYC at the time.
