Could someone enlighten me on what the spivey predictions are? I am like Jon Snow and know nothing

Basically, Spivey said, this waitlist summer is gonna have substantial movement based on his observe of datas and hearings.

how does spivey know this? is it just gossip?

while, if you look into the post, Spivey has provided consultant services for several years.True, he could still be subject to misjudgment.
i think we need to prepare for the worst, but hope for the best. because there is still a "maybe" in everyone 's mind.

Also, anyone else here think that the reason NYU doesn't notify people that they were waitlisted until the very end is because they don't want to be bombarded with application updates (resumes, LOCIs, etc.)? They have a ton of applicants, and it could get really annoying getting a ton of emails from waitlisted applicants while they're busy in the spring.

Gr8 so excited! I know it sucked hearing late, but at least we didn't have to worry about sending app updates + we hear back pretty soon.

It was actually only a week - WL almost all went out April 20 last yr and it was the 28 this year, so I don't think it'll be more than a week different (tho what do I know, honestly)

Yeah I sent a loci last month (mid/end march) but just have a small update but prob won't get to it until the end of the week

I think I'm also just mad at how they've handled everything so I'm having trouble writing how excited I am to go there right now...might need a few more days to get that passion back

Quick question: how important is the LOCI, really? Isn't the purpose to simply show interest so that they know you will attend if accepted?
I'm a deferred ED applicant- does the fact that I applied ED constitute as enough interest, or is there another benefit of the LOCI?

I would say that as a deferred ED applicant, from their perspective, it's possible that you mostly settled on another school despite agreeing to remain on the waitlist, especially with how late in the cycle it is. There could also be another waitlisted applicant with similar stats that you want to set yourself apart from by updating NYU and expressing further interest.
