Re: NYU c/o 2020 -- WAIT LIST (Poll included!)
Is it ever ok to tell a law school you're going to get good grades before that is official? I still have exams to take and papers to write, but barring a freak underperformance I should get all A's-- and with my crap GPA that actually will matter.

Maybe a line in a LOCI mentioning that you've been performing well this final semester? I think sending your updated transcripts is better though. Not sure they'll take your word for it otherwise.haley12 wrote:Is it ever ok to tell a law school you're going to get good grades before that is official? Real talk - is there any benefit to retaking the LSAT in hopes of getting in off the waitlist?

Most waitlist movement starts before you even sit for the June LSAT so my opinion is no.element18_ wrote:Real talk - is there any benefit to retaking the LSAT in hopes of getting in off the waitlist?

you will end up there though, I'm sure of it. high rollers are the first to get offers and you'll only have to wait like, 2 weeks.

I'll have to tell them I can't accept it unless they take you first.SybillAnnDorsett wrote: I wanted you in the accepted thread

Anyway, cheers to no dings in here at least. I've said it many times, NYU's waitlist movement is historically massive. Not feeling too bad about this, most of the wait should be over.

You deserve an acceptance but #sybilhive will settle for this WL if it results in an acceptanceSybillAnnDorsett wrote:Welp. Not sure how that happened but I got the WL email right now, still not DLS. glitchy NYU strikes again. Happy to join you all.

Does that massive waitlist movement ever come with scholarship?Nightwing wrote:I'll have to tell them I can't accept it unless they take you first.SybillAnnDorsett wrote: I wanted you in the accepted thread

I've heard it almost always does not. I think most of us sticking this out are assuming we'll be paying sticker.Po$eidon wrote:

Edit: I'm not aware of any exceptions, but maybe they might still be receptive to negotiations with really strong applicants in at some other T6s?

Since the wave has settled down a bit -
Please withdraw from the waitlist if you're not ok with sticker. The WL email made it clear that was whats going to happen.

Email said need-based aid is still available to the waitlist but who knows what "need" means to themPo$eidon wrote:Yeah that's what I thought. Re: NYU c/o 2020 -- WAIT LIST (Poll included!)
alternatively, I have seen a few people on LSN who received scholarships off the WL. While it is entirely possible this is some new policy, its also possible its just a line. Don't withdraw if you want to go to NYU! plain and simple. Also, the e-mail said everyone is considered for need-based aid, so not necessarily sticker, and it also didn't say they won't consider other offers you have (so you could not be evaluated for a merit award but then they could offer you one after you show them some other t13 $). So the WL email absolutely did not make it "clear" you'll be paying sticker and its crappy to say otherwise.
Don't feel pressured to withdraw by anyone on here, please.

+1. On my acceptance thread one of the lawyers on there broke it down re: WL if you're t13 with offers they might match etc.guybourdin wrote:alternatively, I have seen a few people on LSN who received scholarships off the WL. Also the WL is huge and asking 1-2 people to withdraw means arguably nothing and has negligible results. You would have to fit their exact profile ie LSAT range urm or not geographic location - to essentially replace what they're lacking in their class

I would "need" NYU to offer aid close to (or exactly) the aid the 11 other people with my numbers got this cycle. I don't know why I was the one waitlisted, and I'm not sure if I'd be able to get the above need filled, but I'm not withdrawing just because people on TLS want me to. NYU is my dream and I'm not giving up.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
