From the HLS Waitlist website:

"If your application has been selected for the waitlist, this means that you are clearly a strong applicant to Harvard Law School. If, however, you believe additional materials or information would strengthen your application, you are welcome to send additions to your file. A one-page letter of continued interest or substantive resume update are good examples of relevant additions to your file. Please note that we generally advise against submitting additional letters of recommendation."

When is a good time to send in LOCI? Is it the sooner the better?

I haven't. What are your thoughts?
I'm wondering if an email only goes out to people who haven't viewed their most recent status update after X minutes/hours, sort of like a "you have unread messages" reminder.
Think some people got it after checking their status checker. I don't have any alternative theories though...
Could be their sneaky idea to sort out people who are really interested in going Harvard...who regularly check the status checker lol.
I haven't received the email yet either.

I think the prevailing wisdom is to send one as soon as you can, as long as you've taken the time to write a thoughtful and proofread LOCI. FWIW I sent one earlier since I hadn't heard anything since I applied, so I'm going to wait a month or so until right before review to send another one.

Does anyone have an estimate on how many applicants get waitlisted each year?

Checking in, JSNone. Does anyone have any clue whether JS1s have an advantage over JSNones when getting in off the waitlist?

From last year's thread:

- Pre-waitlist JS1 > no pre-waitlist JS1
- Post-waitlist JS1 > pre-waitlist JS1

Don't know what that's based on, though.

Makes sense logically.

From everything I've seen, there's usually no WL movement at all until after the first deposit deadline.

Be very careful to keep your LOCI and your messages to Harvard admits separate :P

If you end up in the same class as Tiffany, you are basically a collaborator, and will be treated as such by the tribunals. FYI.

I put this in the original thread, but I know someone who's teaching Malia next year and they said the reason she deferred H for undergrad last year was it took a year to do all the security checks for housing, her section, TAs and profs, etc. and they set her schedule the year in advance. my guess is if tiffany is coming to HLS (or wherever) she'll do a gap year while the secret service interviews everyone and secures housing and stuff. now, one could argue Malia is publicly probably more valuable to Obama than Tiffany has appeared to Trump (and she's older and has lived apart from him like forever), but it seems a little weird to me they would do it for one president's daughter and not the other. my bet is if she's at HLS, it'll be c/o 2021
