Columbia Reserve Group c/o 2020

Post by brinicolec » Wed Feb 08, 2017 5:28 pm

Since I OP'd the CLS thread, figured I might as well OP the reserve thread too!

Previous CLS Reserve threads:

http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... 7&t=262924
http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... 2&t=225363
http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... 7&t=208740
http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... 7&t=245464
http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... p?t=178958
http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... p?t=147191

Tidbits from skimming last year's thread:
Adcomm started re-evaluating apps around 5/27
Seems like ppl on Reserve get interview requests (not sure if it's necessary for acceptance off of reserve; based on their discussion, PREVIOUS previous years only accepted folks they interviewed off of reserve)
Ppl started getting email about FURTHER postponement (aka second reserve) around 6/8 -- and seems like a majority of active posters last year got put on second reserve -- discussion suggests second reserve folks don't fair too well regarding acceptance
A couple people reported getting off of reserve after interviewing a week earlier around 6/23
On 6/24, a poster said they called admissions and were told that second reserve had started to get evaluated BUT the class was full (aka make other plans)
Third reserve began around mid-July
Rejection letter reported by one poster 7/23

I like how they use the term "reserve group" instead of waitlist.

Boston (U) gave me a pretty nice amount of money and it's apparently a really nice city. So far, it seems like a solid choice. Gonna wait and see what kind of money I get from G-town and others. Also still have a handful of T14 decisions I'm waiting on

Regarding fin aid: Anyone know how getting loans works since it'll be like June or later before hearing back? Is it more like as long as you submit the FAFSA in time, you can add the school later or...?

Checking in.

Rode out the Reserve Group last year until August.
I think we shouldn't get our hopes up too high, because I think that CLS waitlists more people than they reject hahah
I don't think too many people were accepted off Reserve Group. :( :( :( :(

BUT THE HOPE STILL LIVES ON!

I'm almost in the same exact boat as you! BU looks like my top choice right now but I have't gotten my scholarship info yet :(
Hopefully the T14s that we're both waiting on pull through but if not, hope to see you at BU!! :D

nothing is 100% decided yet, i'm sure there's a surprise or two still waiting around the corner for you, and you've still got time to negotiate $$$ regardless! you're bound to end up at a great school with great opportunities, just where you need to be when it's all said and done :D

i'm mostly leaning towards georgetown because i'm from there and my job is supportive of me going part time. nyc is so inexplicably amazing, though
Yeah, I love NYC, which is part of why I'm interested in Boston. One of my close friends is from NY and was like "NYC is my favorite but BU is a close second" lol

I got my scholly info with my admitted packet but it seems like a lot of other people are getting theirs differently. I was admitted in Feb. though which is when they said they'd start doing fin aid.

My biggest concern with the T14s is that, even if I'm accepted, they'll be stingy with money, and there's very few schools I'd be okay with paying sticker (or close to sticker) for, regardless of what kind of job I want (BL included).

CLS may be one of them. I'm not sure yet lol.

I have a crappy GPA and a LSAT right below the 25th so I was expecting a DING lol. Probably gonna retake in June and see what my score looks like.

TBH just amazed I wasn't rejected with my LSAT. Already got a good scholly to schools I'd be happy to go to, so idk if I want to stay on reserve and pay sticker if I get in.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
